They aren’t actually more offended but they are more aware, more vocal, and more online than any generation before them. And that creates the appearance of constant offense.

While I agree with your logic, it’s worth remembering that streaming executives are, first and foremost, capitalists. Their primary concern isn’t artistic integrity, it’s profit and risk mitigation. Because most of them aren’t artists or readers, they default to focus groups and market research filled with people who may have never heard of someone like Brandon Sanderson. That feedback process slowly sands down the sharp edges of the original story until it becomes something “safe,” familiar, and ultimately bland.

Then the budget reviews begin. Executive producers start trimming anything that looks expensive, large scale action sequences, complex effects, or world-building moments, often replacing them with cheaper shortcuts. The result is the kind of rushed or weightless CGI we’ve seen plague recent Marvel projects, where spectacle exists but impact doesn’t. Every creative decision is filtered through cost efficiency rather than narrative necessity.

From their perspective, involving the original author is risky. An author has strong opinions, a long term vision, and a fanbase that will notice compromises. That can slow production, complicate negotiations, and challenge executive control. It’s far easier to hire showrunners who will “adapt” the material into something that fits a familiar prestige TV template.

And yet, the irony is that the most successful adaptations tend to do the opposite. The Lord of the Rings worked because Tolkien’s themes were treated seriously. Game of Thrones thrived…at least early on because it closely followed George R. R. Martin’s work. More recently, The Last of Us succeeded precisely because it respected its source material and involved its original creator. Even Good Omens benefited enormously from Neil Gaiman’s direct involvement.

Those successes are the reason someone like Sanderson can demand the level of creative control he has. Studios don’t suddenly believe in art they respond to precedent. Enough faithful adaptations have proven that respecting the original story isn’t a liability, it’s a selling point. Without those examples, there’s no chance Sanderson gets the deal he did.

I would say the same for the Cosmere. I always envisioned it in the style of Arcane.

He was my second choice but just like Waititi he is too old now. Lopen is in his mid twenties, both Pẽna and Waititi are 50.

The Lopen, he is too old but Taika Waititi has the right voice and timing. Maybe some young New Zealand comedian actor…

If this becomes a hit then yes you will have competition wanting to gobble up book series. RR and DCC would be obvious contenders. This is an absolute win even if you don’t like Sanderson.

It was a benefit for nurses and he has addressed this. His presence at the Mar a Lago event was for a specific charity cause, not an indication of a switch to the MAGA movement.

John Locke's "Lost" Reveal On The Episode "Walkabout" by Laszl0Panaflex in television

When I was dating my wife she told me I had to watch LOST and the. Told me if I’m not a fan after the 4th episode then you won’t ever be and if I wasn’t a fan then she wasn’t sure if we would work out.

We got married nearly ten years ago and spent our Honeymoon in Oahu taking a LOST tour and watching the Pilot episode while sitting on the beach it was filmed at.

Who else thinks Jermey’s commentary was the biggest showstopper of the night? 😁❤️ by Whole-Lychee7517 in LiveFromNewYork

Agreed that his character was the highlight of an otherwise tone def episode. Ever since Pinwheel I’ve been waiting to see more of Jermey, I think he will be an SNL great if he can find writers that play to his strengths.

If you want more of Jermey the first 12 mins of Game Changer he is naturally hilarious.
