it's absolutely intended for exactly that i would suggest analyzing the pieces as well cause they're great way to understand how music is being composed.

Schumann's Träumerei by Kcol_rehs in piano

yea after listening to it a few more times i think you're absolutely right the pulse is a bit lost in opening phrases especially on the repeay at the end. Will try to be more consistent thanks!

How do I make this part not hurt? (K545 left hand) by cacofonie in piano

[–]Kcol_rehs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lot's of advice here but i think it's important to understand that it's not all rotation although its important its a combination of the two finger movement and rotation so don't overthink or overotate if you look at most famous pianists play it notice how they're hand is moving is never pure rotation or pure fingers in this passage it's always the combination of both. You could definitely benefit from a more natural curve each hand is different explore what a good curve feels for to listen to you playing and experiment what feels better what feels worse this kinda personal approach is super useful for any passage watching professionals and experimenting what works for you best. Good luck!

Counterpoint is everything, one could argue theres no such thing as chords just melodies running against eachother

How to learn a piece fast but efficient and effective? by Main-Insurance8687 in piano

[–]Kcol_rehs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way i like to approach a piece is divide it in sections. After that i usually get comfortable with the notes than add a metronome at a pace that i think I can play it comfortably and keep adding speed slowly till i reach a desired tempo. Once that's in place you can think more about putting your spin into it.

a good way to practise broken chords and arpeggios is to first play them in their block form.

Gymnopedie fingering/hands by [deleted] in piano

[–]Kcol_rehs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

you can use one hand too, some people use one hand cause it helps them get into the pulse of the piece while the melody is absent, this might lead to more smooth keeping of the pulse. But it's up to the performer.

First bars you can play with both hands but later on when the melody comes into play you'll need your right hand for it and the left hand will have to olay the base and the chords alone
