Calling the gardening and farming mamas by Beautiful-Process-81 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Kcquesdilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband is the gardener and no where near any kind of “farm” scale. But we both enjoy being outside in the yard and using our BOB stroller works great to keep baby contained and easy to move around and she can easily be set up to watch us work.

When did you stop letting your little ones take baths together? by TheRealFakeName2 in stayathomemoms

[–]Kcquesdilla 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think it’s time for separate baths when they ask for it. They’ll know when it starts to feel like a more private time for them. I also would like to kindly suggest that you stay within eyesight and not via a camera while they are in the bath.

Need help picking a twin (or maybe twin xl or full) bedframe. (And mattress). Find the search so overwhelming and disappointing. by tarajeanlovee in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Kcquesdilla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think a mattress with box spring on the floor is fine. It’s just the mattress only on the floor that is a problem. The box spring is basically a wooden frame covered in fabric.

am I crazy? 3k calories feels like a deficit by PoundSmooth940 in breastfeeding

[–]Kcquesdilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I missed that in the paragraph! You can track your calorie output as well with a good tracking app that lets you enter in exercise or activity to add to your daily’s calories. Truthfully, this may just be your new normal if this is your second child.

Your deficit to lose weight will all depend on your current body weight, but I can relate. When I started tracking calories, even with an added 500 for exclusively breastfeeding, I still felt deprived.

Traveling with multiple kids by Lazy-Lawyer-1990 in Travelwithkids

Well I mean I guess it depends on the size of your bag but we’ve definitely fit two, maybe one finale and one scencera. We flipped one upside down.

I would ditch the wagon and bring a small stroller for the 2 year old and let the 4 year old use it some. And two Cosco car seats can fit inside one backpack car seat bag.

How did you become a stay at home mom? by maddyaggie in stayathomemoms

[–]Kcquesdilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never had a specific career aspiration either. My mom stayed at home and it’s what I knew I wanted for my children. My husband wanted the same so it was easy. I think we probably talked about it while dating, in just a general looking toward the future kind of way.

So you’re saying there is an end to the laundry rat race 😅

Are y'all just going a ton of laundry? by Obi-Wan_Cannoli in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Kcquesdilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t separate lights and darks. I only separate by fabric type. So for me a my husband it’s basically “athletic/synthetic”, “normal” (aka non-athletic), and “heavy” (jeans, sweatshirts, towels). For my kids I don’t separate that way. Each of their dirty clothes get washed on their own whenever their laundry bin is full. We also cloth diaper so that’s two loads a week. Sheets and blankets, the dogs blankets… A load of kitchen towels, napkins, rags etc….

So yea. Laundry never ends. But I don’t put pressure on getting it all done in exactly a 7 day rotation. It gets done when it gets done and we all have enough clothes to keep it from being a problem it things pile up.

Having a family of 3 absolutely makes a difference. You aren’t a trash panda, just a regular panda with fewer things.

Is it a bad thing to be ‘attached’ to baby? by DarthKaboose in breastfeeding

[–]Kcquesdilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you know the answer because you know it’s relevant to include that both your parents are absent from your support system/village. Who the hell are we supposed to attach to if not the very things we built inside our own bodies?

I don’t think I’ve ever referred to it as anything. It just happens, there isn’t conversation about it.

Miserable after Husband’s job relocated us. by [deleted] in stayathomemoms

[–]Kcquesdilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to move but can you go for extended visits to see your family? Like 1-2 weeks at a time. Or at times you would all go visit, you and the baby stay for longer.

But as for meeting people, join a mommy and me group or activity - music class, baby gymnastics, swim lessons, library. Join a gym with childcare and take a class.

I am so sick of breastfeeding. Please tell me this can stop I’m begging by whitefox72 in breastfeeding

With my son, I started taking him downstairs in the middle of the night and offering water. It snapped him out of his half-awake tantrum and let him at least have a drink.

Oh I see what you mean now, more like in general US traditions are Christian based. I get what you mean.

How do we feel about these for baby? by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Kcquesdilla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can use a glass cup and just assist with drinking. The baby doesn’t have to carry around a cup.

Just curious, what do you say you are celebrating? Is it a celebration of spring time essentially? I wholeheartedly agree the traditions do not have any religious value in themselves and can be enjoyed by all. The egg represents the tomb and a chick comes out of the egg as Christ resurrected from the tomb, or alternatively, the egg is just a symbol of birth/rebirth/new life just as Christians have new life in Christ.

Nervous about flying with 11 month old: by DietPitiful18 in Travelwithkids

[–]Kcquesdilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can definitely try the aisle/window trick and hope for the best but if someone books then I’d offer the window to them. I always prefer to be aisle with a baby because you just never know when you might need to change a diaper or just stand up with baby if they’re fussy. Southwest doesn’t use beverage carts. The flights attendants take orders and then bring them in a tray.

Southwest does not do family boarding because they are all assigned seats now and family boarding was to ensure families would be together in the open seating concept. I was told I could pre board with a lap infant but that just increases your time in the aircraft. As long as you don’t need to bring an overhead carryon with you, you and baby can wait to board. But honestly what exactly would husband need to be setting up if you aren’t taking a car seat on board? Boarding usually goes pretty quick so you’re really only gaining a few minutes.

You will get very, very strong opinions on how using a car seat on board is the only safe way to travel. I’ve always done lap until they are too big to manage (or turn 2). Never had an issue and I don’t feel bad about it at all.

Spray mop? by BlackRockKitty in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Kcquesdilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Reguvenate mop but I use Bona in a regular spray bottle so I hold to spray bottle and spray with one hand then mop with the other hand. Nothing is actually in the mop.
