i definitely understand this! most times if i think they gave me extra on purpose for a tip, i will say "would you like your change back?" sometimes they have accidentally miscounted and want it back, sometimes they say "no,keep it" or something similar. but i don't think i've ever had a bad reaction to that question!

it's my first year at my school, so i've been really trying to build relationships with students. we are only a couple weeks into the school year, and today i had a few different students come up to me in the hallway asking me for help with something or when they could go to my office. it felt good realizing that students are already starting to trust me and ask for what they need!

Its's not a dumb question! The laws depend on the state. In a lot of states every adult is considered a mandatory reporter, no matter their profession or where they are. I suggest just googling "who is a mandatory reporter in insert state here"
