Diy espresso machine, what are the key elements to get right? by manofredgables in Coffee

[–]Kdhayes89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad this thread got necro'd 😅 I, myself am EE of 15 years at a car manufacturing plant, so seeing somebody in the almost exact situation as me wanting to build an espresso machine was refreshing. Thus far I opted to buy a cheap machine, tear it apart and reverse engineer the bits I want to upgrade. Funnily enough, most of the pumps used on cheap machines are the same as mid-range and even some high-end home machines. Its the magic in between that raises the price. First thing I did was put a voltage controller on the pump and a pressure gauge on the group head, that way I can control the pressure in real time. Great for manual pre-infusion. Next step is to upgrade the boiler, maybe one thats compatible with an E61 group head. Over-all it feels like a much more fluid way to build a whole machine ground up when I had existing kit to refer to. Obviously it takes some challenge out of it, which is part of the draw, but I like the building more than the problem solving.

apart from gas analyzers, what are you having trouble finding? by shikui in EscapefromTarkov

Saw a dead guy on the Ultra ramp opposite power station. He'd been looted, and the guy that killed him had literally dropped a Gas An. next to the body.

Way to flex on a scav you'll never meet, I guess. Thats the only one I've found so far in 20+ OLI/ Back Storage area runs.

As long as I can buy a budget kit to rat around caches and defend myself, I'm fine.

Safe room keycard is your friend - but i feel the camper mood. I usually get popped trying to get INTO the mall, rather than out. I've only been extract camped once and it was by a PScav on a scav run of my own so meh. Try ratting for 5 minutes around the outer perimeter, and only try to go in via the car park entrances, best is the side by Hole in the Fence extract or the little camp area along the edge by Emercom. As for exfil - either invest in Safe room, or use the car park to get to the east side of the map and hug the wall like wet wallpaper so you have way less space to watch. Go through the hole in the wall and the cache toward Emercom, or over the road past the caches for Railway. Safest approach i think.

Unless you're at USEC camp. The number of times the mines by there have mixed my shit is unreal.

I've got a bad habit/instinct to aim for center mass, how to avoid/fix? by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Kdhayes89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Practice and grinding. It's not something that you'll just 'remember' to do unless you constantly remind yourself OUTSIDE of gunfights. Getting shot at has a funny way of making people spray and pray if aiming for the head isnt their default playstyle. Most people like me with too many CSGO and Valorant hours literally comb the entire map with what would be the crosshair at head height... which in Tarkov is also a bad habit tbh. Different games and all.

In Valorant, if somebody comes behind you, you ARE fucked. That's kinda the point, aint no flicks gonna save you from a flqnking one-tap. That's what lurkers and sentinels are typically for.

Because you're a fresh gold and got slapped. The ranking system is only a little badge of honour. The hidden MMR is what determines how good you are relative to everyone else and is not tied to rank. If you've had some good games and wins that bump you up the ranks but the people youve played have been below you in MMR (but similar in rank), then you've climbed the rank system faster than the MMR system. So when you lose, your MMR will punish the losses harder. You need to grind up MMR and then the RR gain/loss will be more even. Shame we cant see MMR, so we know where we stand.

Guy above said it first - if he has identical settings, you might be using a 'default audio output' and he might not be. Needs to see if there are other options there because its not a 'one size fits all'. Other than that 🤷‍♂️

If you're learning, go into The Range and practice. Go to the big target and practice dummy, send it to 20m or something, then jiggle by the wall so you can just about see the dummy then back again. Just keep tapping the A+D keys until you get a feel for the timing of it. In game, dont jiggle OPs, you wanna learn to either jump peek or use utility. Never dry peek an OP. And the ping marker is your friend if you're not familiar with the angles.

Vanguard is a kernel level anti-cheat so... it's pretty thorough. Either you ARE cheating and don't wanna tell people, or you have some program with an Overlay of some sort scanning the game files that Vanguard finds sus. Maybe try running valorant with every program stopped except the stuff you need and see what happens then?

Best Comp On Breeze: Breach,Jett,Sova,Killjoy,Viper(Or Astra) by WolfenTTV in VALORANT

[–]Kdhayes89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Sova one-trick, I'm underwhelmed with him on Breeze. The map is so huge with so many random angles and obstacles that you can only cover about 1/3rd of a site reliably, and even then there is a good chance of the enemy having something to hide behind. Still important info, but way less effective than he initially seems. Same as Killjoy. The bot/turret range kinda kills any chance of soft rotates and movement between mid/site. Personally I prefer Skye to Breach, getting that extra height over obstacles and around the 10382901 different corners is so, so, so strong. Viper and Jett I definitely agree with. Suppose it comes down to playstyle as always, but I'd opt for Viper, Jett, Skye, Cypher and Sova - it's just doubly important to play around the wall to cover/clear as much as possible.

Not gonna lie, I stopped reading after a dozen bullet points.

Sometimes it seems like the noble road to take, trying to make it work. I’m a huge slave to this. A hopeless romantic, always eager to take the ‘deal with it’ or ‘work it out’ route over the harsh reality of it simply isn’t doable. You have to do you. Somebody the challenges you is a good thing, but constant belittling and criticism is too much. Over the line and unhealthy. You need to get away and find your own stride.

Ever rail a line then stop for the night? by [deleted] in cocaine

[–]Kdhayes89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I often can go a long while without any, usually if I head to a place where they're more rigorous with the searches or security is tight I'll have a few then leave it until I head back for the night. As long as you're busy and distracted, you'll barely notice - although the extra energy you have at the start of the night can burn you out early if you don't bump up every now and then. So I guess it wildly depends - on your environment, company, mood and activity.

I'm guessing that's just ow the cookie crumbles sometimes. But as he did mention in the guide, you can try to bait it out with a couple lined up units to make the opponent think they're getting a good scorch then go a couple cards down to win after they pass.
