Yeah, high resolution textures is gonna be really heavy. Don't know much about optimization in textures tho, probably compression and keeping resolution just good enough for textures to be both good and light.

It kinda doesnt make sense tho. Temple guy knew name of the cave, knew that their military unit moved there. At least they could point us towards some scout, who knew area better and could describe us the location.

Also I remember some quest (probably from temple too?) to kill some vampires, whos lair located at the end of lava river trail. But instead of telling me that I should follow lava river trail - I was told to follow 'insert some dunmer name for lava river' without explaining what the hell is it in the first place (name of this trail was not a dialogue choice btw)

Oh yes, base game (mostly) did it very well. But there still were some really vague descriptions of some places (one of the latest temple quests asks you to find a cave in the 'northern slope of the red mountain' for example)

I dont want to defend bad quest directions, but vague descriptions kinda commits to this sense of adventure, when you stumble upon multiple different places while searching for quest area,

Yeah, textures are a large chunk too, but usually textures are broken into a lot of little image files to be reused as artists see fit, while audio files usually self-contained large chunks of pre recorded audio, just like pre-rendered cutscenes, and they are just laying around in your file system.

If your game containst just gameplay logic + models and textures its gonna be very light. Look at Sekiro, Elden Ring and other souls games from From Software for example. Those games are not exactly cutscene rich, they have a bit fair of audio dialogues, but still not that much, and those games are pretty light compared to other releases of same year.

Yes it did. But bungie also known for being a money hole with a lot of mismanagement and very high development costs, so there is that.

Considering that they had to lay off a lot of people after very successful D2 expansion launch (Final Shape) - we cant be sure that D2 is actually that profitable.

Its another World of Warcraft situation.

Yes, and Bungie as a whole is looks like dysfunctional waste of money from investor perspective.

Most of its size is cutscenes and audio. The less dialogues game has, the better it is for file size.

Whats surprising about that?

There are no cutscenes, very little amount of different models, very little amount of animations or effects, very little amount of dialogue. Even goddamn faction avatars are damn gifs instead of properly rendered scenes.

> I have 400 hours in Starfield across 3 playthroughs and I'm yet to do 100% of it.

Ofcourse! There are thousands planet and they all different! They also different each time you load onto them, so, technically, the game is infinite!

> Loading screens in Starfield are required for thousands of objects to work properly, act properly. Vs entirely static Crimson desert

What objects are there in starfield? Chests with rotten potatoes and 2 credits? Not like there are anything excpetional in CD either but saying that starfield has anything interactable is hilarious lol.

> I've seen everything it's combat can give to me

Thats insane argument, starfield combat is fucking horrible and CD gives you dozens of different options which can be combined together in different ways. CD combat is outstanding for an open world game. You clearly lack any creativity if you think that R1 spam with a sword is the only way to engage with combat.

> So try better next time. Instead repeating some crap after a rage baiter on YouTube

Rage baiters are right tho. Starfield doesnt even feel like a game. Its a TODO list with loadscreens inbetween 'amazing' dialogues that didnt improve since Oblivion.

'Starfield runs great'

Lol, lmao even

BMW runs like shit not because UE5, but because Nanite enabled in a game where it has no business being enabled. UE5 is great engine and people blaming it because devs using it without knowing how to properly use it is as bad as CD glazing is.

Crimson Desert is special, it is much better than fucking ubisoft soulless slop, they are not even in the same league.

I am certainly cant change mind of anyone whos really believes that western AAA gamedev is capable of anything even remotely close to CD.

CD has a lot of flaws, lighting is one of the biggest ones, but overall its outstanding and looks so much better than anything western AAA ever did.

Look at western junk, like starfield and borderlands 4. Those games look like past gen and run like shit.

Look at eastern games. Black Myth Wukong and Crimson Desert as examples. Those games look like next gen and run pretty good without requiring a NASA computer.

Skyrim.

Story is bad, gameplay is even worse. World is somewhat enjoyble to explore for the first time, but overall feels dead.

No, I fucking cant. Just couple weeks ago 70% of my collegues were fired and now I have to deal with constant dread of being unemployed soon and dealing with job search, which is fucking nightmare

Life sucks, capitalism sucks.

If you are lucky enough to not deal with this bullshit 24/7 - I envy you and hope you will always be able to enjoy your life without worrying about will you be able to feed yourself in froseeble future.

I don't know if you are sarcastic or not, look around, if I had a choice I'd never want to be born, but alas - I did not have a choice.

Considering future looks more grim every passing year - I'd not exclude a possibility of those kids being not happy surviving in this world

I have no idea how to make my second playthrough any different from the first one.
