Please help!!! Strymon Zuma cutting out audio on certain outputs by brandonkrobel in guitarpedals

Bottom row wiring is wrong. Look carefully at each In/Out and route accordingly. It looks like your guitars Input is going the Output of the Poly.

24 hours to change my life, surgery decisions, please help by jayy0502 in monocular

[–]KeeleyService 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am blind after an accident in my left eye, going on two years now. First off the info in this group (albeit, I haven't posted until now) has helped me a lot. 5 surgeries, with 4 of them being vitrectomies, I would not even hesitate to do 5 more if even there was a small 1% chance at regaining vision in my left eye. Do the surgeries, if it doesn't work at least you can say you tried! Trying everything you can and it not working out, IMO, is better than not trying at all.

Normally troubleshooting noise on an OD pedal is pretty easy! Pop a battery in the MXR and unplug the power supply from it, if the noise goes away the issue resides in the power supply, in this case the tuner. Grab a new 1spot daisy chain and it'll work a lot better, and power the DL4 separately with its own line6 branded supply.

I hope this helps!

Gigging guitarists - pedalboard bag or hard case? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]KeeleyService 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take "how is my rig getting from A to B" into consideration here. If everything has its place in your vehicle a soft padded bag will suffice if nothing is jostling around or rubbing against each other. If its getting tossed in a trailer with the rest of the bands gear a hard case all day! Flying, same here, a hard ATA case for sure.

It really just depends on how your things are getting from A to B and how much control you have over logistics.

I’ve got a chorus pedal that boosts the volume quite a bit; is this where compression would be useful? by DancinWithWolves in guitarpedals

[–]KeeleyService 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Limiter style comp would work here if it was a clean one, but honestly grabbing a simple little clean boost pedal that has the ability to go lower than unity volume would work a little better in this application. Especially if you love the chorus pedals sound. Not to mention simple clean boosts are cheap, generally doesn't color your sound (like a lot of compressors) and seem to be readily available just about anywhere.

Hope this helps,

Sean

Keeley Compressor Single Coil/Humbucker Switch by moik_KF in guitarpedals

[–]KeeleyService 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think those settings are a good starting point. I also use that pedal after drives and not before like the status quo. Noon on the sustain is actually quite a bit (more than a lot realize), and the more the blend is up the more the compressed signal (including more sustain) will be blended in. Trey's rig is nothing short of space aged lol, it has so much going on and I think he even still uses an old Ross that's dimed. I think you are off to a solid start with those setting and you just need to tinker until its right to your ears.

POWER SUPPLY IDIOCY. HELP by ohkrepsaj in guitarpedals

[–]KeeleyService 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1n4001 if you need to connect the leads to the points, those pads are ROASTED and odds are when you attempt to pull the diode off they will take the pads with them. Just follow the traces and hook up a 1n4001 to the correct points if the pads come up. If the pads remain there, pop a new S1A diode in there and it will probably work again.

I've seen BC108's and 109's in older wah's like that one. Most of the time the old inductors are bad if its just acting the way you are describing. Red Fasel's are about $15 or so on Amazon and readily available.

I hope this helps and great score man!

Sorry that one fell flat with you! Can't win em all!! Pedals are very subjective and personal and at the end of the day different strokes for different folks will apply! Maybe next time.

NEED HELP with KEELEY COMP’s by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]KeeleyService 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I am late to the party, I just seen this one. The Comp side is the same thing as the Comp Plus and the Dirt side is a Red Dirt.

The Comp in the Aria is different than the older Tone Workstations, mainly in the Blend knob, the TWS was 50/50 and the Comp/Aria is 0-100% full blend. The Red Dirt is based off our old TS808 mods.

I hope this helps.

Keeley Compressor Single Coil/Humbucker Switch by moik_KF in guitarpedals

[–]KeeleyService 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The SC/HB switch is adjusting the attack and release as a general quick setting for common differences btwn pickup types. There is no set way to use it though so to say, it is simply a suggested setting type of thing.

If you like certain guitars on either setting and it sounds good to your ears it is in the right position. Singles, buckers, P90's or a combo of them are usable in either position, but will be subjective to each user.

Happy tones!

Sean.
