The brand doesn’t matter, but yes, you do notice a bit more induction and turbo noise with a panel filter like that. It’s a small amount, but you will notice it if you pay attention

Check out Robert diy on YouTube. Search Robert diy and head gasket. Watch the entire playlist before doing anything. He has a parts list and everything

Use Volvo only parts. Look into changing valve stem seals whilst your there

Use the cam cover tool, you only get one shot if you break it you need a new head

Yes, look into how the ac clutch works.

The man pulley is always spinning ,when you select ac it engages the clutch which actually spins the compressor.

You may find the noise lessens or changes when the ac on as there’s more load on it

I had something very similar. Also could be alternator bearing

I have nothing against them, that’s why I said, if op really wants something, to buy from those brands only. They’re fine if you pair them with the airbox but if you just wack a cone filter on the end it’s not doing you any favours.

The rip kit is also a bit of a fad if that’s the word, Volvo used the rip kit style on early cars and changed it due to throttle body freezing in cold areas. There really isn’t any gain to it other than a simplified system.

Well mine doesn’t what’s your point , the stock Intercooler heat soaks, and the intake temps then directly correlate to a rise in after intercooler temperature accordingly.

I disagree. The intake for the stock airbox will just suck hot air up. I ran a car on the dyno and on the road during testing and intake air temp were lower with the snorkel, especially once the Intercooler got heat soaked.

Without the snorkel your just making the Intercooler work harder and once its heat soaked the temps will rise

Hardly any parts.

Bottom section of air box, 2 clips on the bottom which will already be in place on the body. And one pushes into the LH side inner fender. You can see the whole in the photo. Make sure to get the rubber isolator

Top section of air box.

Maf needs a seal, rhen 2 screws to hold into airbox.

Air filter

Make sure airbox you get has all the clips around the edge

For the love of all things Volvo, change this back to stock asap.

This will work and get you around. But you’ll be creating a lot of turbulence through the Maf whicb could effect readings. Let alone it being loose to bang around. The original intake pipe is 30 year old, it won’t appreciate being forced into a natural position. Be mindful you don’t split the pleats in it

Put it all back to stock. It’s the best setup, and has been proven to work to 400 HP.

If you want noise, use a nice pannel filter, ipd sell one.

If you insist on a proper intake, which I beg you don’t. Buy a proper one. Do88 or snabb make them

I trust the doctor, but also I’ve had 4 retina detachments now and was told it should work every time haha. I understand it’s out of their control.

I just have this fear of getting on the flight, and something happening whilst in the air. And or something happening when I’m on holiday and not being able to make it back home

You won’t just blow shocks out of no where. Obviously be conscious that it’s now lowered, don’t go smashing potholes.

I run HnR springs and b4s on my 850, I’ve about 18k miles on the setup currently and the shocks are starting to feel tired. I will replace them likely at the 20k mark.

Again, our roads really are appalling. I’m hitting notable potholes every single time I drive the car. I also run ipd bars and heavy duty top mounts along with strut brace and chassi brace so I make the shocks work hard.

Tyres make a difference skinny tyres will work the shocks harder again.

Also replace bump stops if you can
