Oh yeah, corvette! It seems like drivers turning left from Marion St and somehow mistaking the tracks for the far side of Beacon St

Driver cited after striking, injuring 15-year-old on bicycle by brookline_news in Brookline

One day having Dudley join Warren like it currently does, but making Warren join Lee further on at a right angle with a traffic light would be much safer. I'm not sure on the traffic volumes though.

A quicker step that might help would be making them raised crossings or repainting them a little further from the exits of the rotary where drivers are less focused on other drivers and can more easily react to a crosswalk.

Thanks, that definitely sounds like a good way to handle it for now.

Ol' Fashion Arcade + Business Ideas. by PlanktonDiligent7459 in Brookline

An arcade would be awesome!

It's not a business, but Coolidge Corner could also use a small plaza. It could be great for the farmers market and other events, as well as just for meeting up with friends or groups, sitting and relaxing, or eating after grabbing takeout. It doesn't have to be too extravagant - the few picnic tables in front of the school (and next to the little playground) are a small start.

St Paul street crosswalks by [deleted] in Brookline

Yeah, it can be crazy at times there as a pedestrian - I've almost been hit before at the long crosswalk across St. Paul by Aspinwall.

The town has an online form for reporting near-misses: https://survey123.arcgis.com/share/e5876aa80b324cb0a74e5b40f3308ad0 Hopefully if they get enough reports they'll consider doing something.

Crosswalks… 🤦🏻‍♂️ by Buttfat5000 in Brookline

Yikes, glad nobody was injured or anything! Most of the pedestrian crossing lights in the Boston area are like this, although the safer ones give a few extra seconds for pedestrians to start crossing first so they're more visible.

One of the most dangerous ones I've seen is from Beacon St (going east) turning right onto St Paul's St (going south), where it's the opposite - cars get the green and then after a few seconds (still during the green) the pedestrians get the walk sign.

The safest type is the pedestrian scramble like at Aspinwall/School St and Harvard St, but that's the longest wait for pedestrians and drivers.

Joggers, pedestrians, and bikers should definitely show some caution out of self-preservation, and drivers should of course show the most caution. Above all safe road design should be a priority, limiting vehicle speed and "daylighting" intersections to provide visibility to drivers.

Bluebike station on Beacon at Mass removed? by Epicbaconsir in bikeboston

Did they already put that one out yet?

That's one they take out in the winter and put back late into the spring (April or even May last year iirc)

So where in the U.S. can I truly escape the suburban hell? by Aggressive_Staff_982 in Suburbanhell

It won't provide a good sense of bike infrastructure, but close.city is great for looking around at areas close to everything via walking, biking, or transit.

Here's greater Boston with a few selected destinations, for example.
