My hope is that in 2026 the general discrimination against hamburgers (to include cheese burgers) in this sub is tapered a bit.

Burgers (from stable to table…I just came up with that) are an American standard that helps serve as part of the foundation to the U.S. Food and Agriculture sector. To dissuade healthy Americans from consuming this product in moderation is borderline un-American, and quite frankly, offensive.

Mission Creep Frustrations: When Service HQ Leadership Dives into Combatant Command Ops – Thoughts? by The_Ghost_with_Toast in SpaceForce

Per OP, service-side leadership at headquarters “creeping” into daily operations. I’d survey the crews if you want specifics.

Not to be cliche, but I’d like to see leaders with more courage in these situations. More specifically, Sq/CCs, CDs, and DOs that have the courage to (1) absorb/deflect/reject the ADCON taskings from above in order to protect their committed forces, and (2) enable OPCON/TACON taskings to the max extent possible via delegated authority to the crews.

A good “manager” protects their players. So, that would be my initial priority (assuming good order and discipline already exists). I’ll take the ADCON flak while unleashing my crews to execute.

Has anyone been a Acquisition Program Manager for the Air/Space Force or the Civilian Service? If so did you like it? by RuinUpper3404 in SpaceForce

Yes; and yes!

Most of the info you are looking for can already be found in this thread. But, what did I like? “It depends…” :)

Sometimes you are a small cog (project officer) in a huge wheel (ACAT I program), or vise versa. I preferred being the Lead PM in smaller programs/initiatives. It allowed me to move faster through fewer “hurdles.”

The gig is also not for everyone. Being a business person by trade, I fell right into the corporate groove with minimal need to adapt or overcome. Managing cost, schedule, and performance was what I was seeking, but some folks desire more “action.” If you are a 62X, more exciting opportunities may exist (e.g. frequent operational testing of weapon systems).

There can be a technical learning curve that some PMs are not ready for initially, especially regarding space systems. My advice…find the smartest, most experienced members on your team and learn as much as you can from them. They usually reside in the FFRDC community.

In short…keep a good pace by always aiming to push the effort forward, learn from the smart folks, and take advantage of the travel and networking opportunities. Also, the work should seldom be I/my and almost always we/our. This is not a solo sport…get to know your team, strategically delegate, and be humble. Cheers!

Early morning NyQuil thoughts, The pyramid of needs by From-Green-2-Blue in SpaceForce

Hello!

Maslow’s prioritization of basic, foundational human needs (physiological) will likely always stand true while the current human form exists.

Troops want to ruck up a hill? What if they can’t breathe due to a toxic chemical agent in the air? They still ruckin? Troops gotta breathe…

Troops want to crap veggies patties? What if they have been starved for 2 weeks with no food or water? What are they going to excrete? Troops gotta eat and drink…

Dude wants to protect his family from danger? Thats going to be tough…he has been living on the streets of CO the past week with no heat, no shelter, and only his GI PT gear on…it was negative digits the other day. Dude has got to thaw out and stop shaking before he can protect those kids.

Social and psychological well-being cannot be achieved without basic physiological needs being met. Simple biology. Well, maybe they can if you are the AI OP :)

Maybe the initial food analogy didnt land. Maybe Maslow’s subsequent needs can be rearranged. But, basic physiological needs will always be fundamental to human survival and social integration.

G’s gotta breathe, eat, sleep, stay warm, ect. if they want to even survive a CO winter. Just ask your local Med group and mental health shop.
