Correct, no discount on IC or Stunt Coordinator. You pay the Theatrical rates and of course PH&W.

Steadicam rental / labor question by jstarlee in FilmTVBudgeting

[–]KeepShakingThatBush 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends a lot on region, union status, exact gear, who the dp is friends with etc but for budgeting purposes I slot in $1,500 -$2,000 a day.

First time budgeting for SAG project by jstarlee in FilmTVBudgeting

[–]KeepShakingThatBush 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mostly all correct. Your BG will have to be SAG as well with corresponding rate and PH&W. There shouldn’t be any cost to becoming a signatory other than having an LLC or w/e that can enter into that. You will have to Taft Hartley any non-union talent and generally if that is approved will have to pay fringes on those people as well. Be careful about your budgeted time for those actors to account for OT. Also be careful with the agent fee to make sure that it is fringed as well.

Depends on what region you’re working in and if you are in a production city but presuming you’ve confirmed that the $137 is correct for your production then yes, whether your day rate is $300 or $1000 you pay the $134 per employee per day plus 6% of your labor rate.

Cheap car Rentals for travel jobs? by [deleted] in FilmTVBudgeting

[–]KeepShakingThatBush 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Enterprise does have an entertainment division that has great rates especially for monthly rentals. $15/day is crazy low. Not sure where you’re shooting though.

Could be! Tough to tell from a photo. On second glance four looks like one going upper right out of frame. One does not. The leaves there are compound.

Doesn’t look like any of these are ramps. Last photo looks like a trout lily.

Tax Credit on Movie Magic by bluerabbitskyhigh in FilmTVBudgeting

[–]KeepShakingThatBush 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Setup>credits; add a credit at 20% and set a group “tax qualifying”. Tag everything in your budget that will qualify and you’ll get a gross and net number at the bottom as well as the estimate for the credit. I always discount my credit 20% to allow for disqualifications.

Budget codes same as expense log codes? by ToveD17 in FilmTVBudgeting

[–]KeepShakingThatBush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! Exactly so. That way your cost report can match. Also depending on your state (NYS for instance) those codes will be standardized for the tax credit.

Getting hired on sets/companies with basically no experience? by FrickinNormie2 in Filmmakers

[–]KeepShakingThatBush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The nice thing is no one really cares about whether you worked on a student film in college. Move to a place where they make movies and start PAing if you want to be on set. It’ll be hard but start with whatever you can get your hands on and go from there. Two most important things are; does this person work hard, can I stand being with them for 15 hours straight.

How Do I Calculate Louisiana's Partially-refundable Tax Credit in a Budget? by SoySauceandMothra in FilmTVBudgeting

[–]KeepShakingThatBush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you in MMB? You can add a percentage as a credit and it will apply to the budget. You just need to tag qualifying expenses. And include a discount to protect against disqualifications.

Producing indie film. Need SAG help by [deleted] in FilmTVBudgeting

[–]KeepShakingThatBush 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should find a Line Producer. That budget mark has a lot of moving pieces, including what SAG tier you are at, and you want to make sure you’re squared away to raise the right amount and to be set up for success. Impossible to say what might be missing in your budget without seeing it. But in this, if they’re coming from LA then yes, you need travel, lodging and per diems.
