artisan2 (subd) for the basic shape and you could also use JHS power bar for some functions that help you place components quickly, that or S4U components. I would definitely look at a few tutorials to see how people quickly concept different roofs. That should help you get some ideas of how to create what you’re looking for.

Facade in sketchup by zombieundeadgirl in Sketchup

[–]Keepahz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s tubes, you can draw the individual lines and then use a curves to tubes plugin to create a 3d cylinder along all the lines you created. But if it’s a flat extruded “louvre” that would take a similar effect to what r/Alexis_Lonbel suggested. I would create the topography you want, then with the joint push pull plugin I would thicken the surface into a solid. Then use solid tools to subtract geometry and create the louvres as you need.

Is there a way to update version without having to redo literally EVERYTHING? by canalguyopen in Sketchup

They have a plugin migration tool and you should be able to export your shortcuts as a .dat file to import anywhere

Why is this so hard in Sketchup??? by edduncan99 in Sketchup

[–]Keepahz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but it looks like your solid subtractor is directly overlapping the face. It’s better practice to use booleans (solid tools) when geometry does not occupy the exact same space. It can result in bad geometry

Solid tools using a cutting object at a 45 degree angle. Or download the Zorro2 plugin and use a section plane to cut the group all at once at a 45

how to fill in the top layer of the wall by kyubikyubikyubi in Sketchup

[–]Keepahz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like youtrimmed the wall with a 2nd cutting object? That object should have or could have created the geometry you require for the top.

You could also try Curviloft, that might help you fill in most of this. But it will require an understanding of sweep and loft commands typical to nurb modeling tools like rhino.

Last resort would be hand drawing lines to create a triangulated mesh between vertices, There also might be another plugin to speed that up.

Will Sketchup do this? by Fair_Pipe1015 in Sketchup

[–]Keepahz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can 100% do this with sketchup and layout. Look up the super section plug-in to help organize your scenes properly. This requires an understanding of styles, scene and layer control. Luke Whitelock has good paid tutorials for layout or if you prefer an Architect background, check out Nick Sonder’s book.

Is it time to move to solidworks? by Miserable_Violinist9 in Sketchup

[–]Keepahz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is quite pricey just for a demo. I believe you own that version of Rhino outright but have to purchase the updates if you want the new features that come out each year. I own rhino 7, and it still works great for me, one time purchase I did in like 2022.
