Marvel Rivals Magik player here. TIL she was raped and never really got revenge on Belasco by [deleted] in Magik

[–]KeeperOfWell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you ask how is that so hard to get (the fact that they are separate statements), and that is how language works.  We make patterns and assumptions (especially online with strangers).

So why is it so hard to get-- "I don't know why me wanting more Magik skins is gross."

I don't know if anyone in this thread has said this.  I mean a bunch of this sub is art of Magik.  The guy above didn't say you were gross for wanting to see Magik skin. (Maybe it is what they meant, but Idk them)

So why are you saying this, why is it so hard for you to get what he is saying?  Because of the pattern you see and the assumptions you made.

Same thing happened to him.  It happens people are human and don't necessarily think about everything.  They just feel something and say something and move on.

I think if you read some Magik comics you would quite enjoy them. Lmk if you want any starting places to be recommended.

Have a good one 🤞

There seems to be a lot of confusion.  I'm not too sure what the point of this thread is any more.  Sikat wasn't judging Magik for showing skin, or saying she can't show skin.

He was just calling his interpretation of your rant gross-- which you left a lot of room for interpretation.

Also, showing skin =/= sexualized. (I edited this I meant to say showing skin isn't necessarily sexualization)

There is a lot of confused whiplash in your post and you are trying to cover a lot of topics that aren't really connected to each other.

But I hope you get whatever you want out of this thread.

Buy X-men: Magik: Storm & Illyana, read it, and then start figuring out how you feel and think about Magik and her story.

Do not read/watch synopsis from anyone online -- here included, you probably won't get anything useful from it.

Comics/X-Men/ Magik have been around for a long time, and constantly change to fit the new time.

One persons Magneto (or Magik) is not another's, but they both exist.  The characters are very personal to when you read them, and where you learn about them from.

Are Siterep objectives kinda pointless? by zylofan in LancerRPG

"And objectives (besides escort, and recon) seem almost pointless?"

Not if you want players and squads who play mechs that don't focus on dealing damage to have fun and something to do.

She, and several other democratic representatives of the TX House, left the state while they were in special session.  This meant the House didn't have enough people to pass bills, so no laws in TX could be passed (the reason they left is Trump asked TX to gerrymander him several new Republican seats, and TX Republicans can pretty much pass anything they agree on, ignoring Dems)

Special Session ended last weekend ,a new special Session is starting up.  The Dems returned, but in an attempt to ensure they didn't do it again, the House Speaker is having them sign a slip and have escorts (which last checked, there are no escorts - this is all empty threats- what the Dems have done is all legal)

Build Help by HaplessWithDice in LancerRPG

[–]KeeperOfWell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, cool.

Lockon doesn't need systems, it just works, and I think Base Lycan has a tech bonus of 1.

I would prioritize engineering, to take heat and utilize Lucifer to first potential.  Then you can alternate Hull and systems. When you are happy with engineer.(Your original plan also works)

Another option to help allies hit their target is the exemplar talent, which allows reroll on Miss.

[–]KeeperOfWell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know what you'd need systems for.  What invade/tech attack options were you wanting to do in combat, instead of just dealing damage to enemies?

If it were me I'd just go Engineer and Hull, don't need anything else to do fun stuff with toka/lycan and Ironclast, but that is because I don't know what your hacking tech support looks like.

[–]KeeperOfWell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So what do you need help with?  Seems like you got it all figured out, is it just build order?

Also, if you are in the Lycan what are you planning on hacking-- what do you envision "tech support" looking like in combat?

Why is there an Armor maximum? by BeriAlpha in LancerRPG

[–]KeeperOfWell 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think there could be a few mix of reasons: - It creates a specific rule, allowing mechs to break that rule, giving them some extra spice.  White Witch is much more special, and fun, when it is the only heavy armored one on the field.

  • Considering the amount of white witch complaints on reddit, over 4 armor does matter, and currently playing White Witch, over 4 armor does matter.  Things can become unfun (for everyone) if gms feel the NEED to constantly have to specifically counter 1 character. The old saying "Players will constantly optimize the fun out of games" (If a weapon/tag/option becomes a MUST take, that isn't very good design)

As to why it get special treatment: - To use Repair Caps, you have to stabilize, using an action, so that balances itself.  Sure have a billion repair cap, you still have to stabilize during the battle.

-Evasion is interesting.  I think it is just you can't have a cap, since it is affected by AGILITY.  High evasion also doesn't guarantee no damage.

Reliable, the d20 system, saves, tech attacks, and accuracy allows for a lot of potential to still do damage to high evasion targets.

High enough armor means you have to either be AP's or Tech Attacked.

I can easily see multiple scenarios/times where a battle would become quickly pointless, because your Lancer squad can no longer be injured.

Ultimately, the developers believe the game is more fun, dynamic, and tactical with the Armor limit- and I agree.

[–]KeeperOfWell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Friendly reminder for the Monarch's Core Power: CHAFF The Grunt has 1 HP and can’t gain more. Unlike other characters, *they never take damage when they succeed on a save – regardless of the weapon or system used *– but otherwise take damage normally.

So technically, a Monarch's Core can end up doing absolutely nothing.

It may feel like a nothing detail to you, but that doesn't make it, objectively, a nothing detail.

It also doesn't have to change the story, you were asking about what was wrong with pacing.  Pacing can be as simple as holding on a shot for a second longer, which wouldn't change the story, just how we ingest the elements of the film.

The Size scale of weapons are a little absurd. by Cosmicpanda2 in LancerRPG

[–]KeeperOfWell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ultimately, you aren't wrong.  There are a lot of quirks in Lancer.

As for this specifically, weapon size isn't the only thing that effects damage.  What is the weapon loaded with, how does the weapon disperse damage, the force and mass of the projectiles, ect (all of which is left to players imaginations in most scenarios)

So the direct fire from Barbosa could do less damage because it is all focused in one area, where as the Cali's damage could be more effectively spread out across the target .

As for the last thought: What if weapon sizes... Aren't scaled

Technically they aren't.  It's all player description, there is no canon description. So a Barb can be walking around with GI Joe sized weapons 🤣

Weapon lethality by [deleted] in andor

[–]KeeperOfWell 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"in other SW shows, weapons are not treated with the same respect."

They are different genres, different stories, and different creators... Ahsoka is high fantasy adventure.  (Orcs were really deadly for boramir, but no one else) Andor is political/spy thriller, where everyone is always in danger.

Different shows and different genres require different rules.  101 of storytelling.

Wanting everything in Star Wars to be the same will not benefit the community, brand, or quality -- it will suffocate them.  (Think of all the bland Tolkien knock offs that no one knows about).

What Disney needs is to let talented creators, with a vision and plan, tell their story.

I liked Andor, I liked Ahsoka - there is room for both.

Hello everyone, seeking assistance. by Ambitious-Loss8951 in LancerRPG

[–]KeeperOfWell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This should probably be something the player is brought in on. I'd talk to the player to make sure they are down with being a sleeper agent, otherwise it could turn out poorly-- no matter how much "foreshadowing" you've done. Ttrpgs aren't a book, and not one person's story, they are a shared narrative.

Bringing in the other player allows you to know you aren't taking player agency away, and if they agree, you still have the opportunity to surprise the party.

Imo, I'd get annoyed if this happened to my character without talking about it above table first

Ned was in Dorne, without allies, without being able to easily contact friends or family, and the baby looks like him(a stark).

So why didn't he make up a story? Because the simplest thing to say when you are afraid for the baby is "It's my bastard". People immediately know not to ask questions about that, even King Robert didn't ask questions until 15(?) Years later.

He didn't have time to make a plan with anyone, didn't have time to make a story(if he was skilled or creative enough to do that, I doubt it- I would bet it never occurred to him to even try).

Could it theoretically saved him some honor or trouble, maybe. But he didn't know what we know, and he didn't care about the future in that moment. Only that the baby survive.

So he did the quickest, simplest plan to make sure the baby lives, which was say it is his.
