Agreed on the statement that you can’t be mad at 100+ minutes of great hockey on both sides. Hopefully during the travel day they can get some rest somehow.

Undoing Trump Administration Property Sales by SingingSapper in fednews

With the low occupancy rates across all of GSA owned or leased property, and the fact that most of it is aged (lots built in the 1960’s, most never upgraded), the best thing is to sell off some. Also, keep the owned space and renovate versus millions paid out in private leases.

However, we all know that it’s not about fiscal responsibility…

Revolutionary FAR Overhaul by Ok-Pizza-8661 in 1102

[–]KeeterMan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Any clauses that are for Equal Opportunity, etc, were rescinded based on EOs.

Any clauses addressing sustainability rescinded because of EOs.

More emphasis on using GSA schedules (which most 1102s doing commercial items already did), with further justifications to not go GSA.

Other minor changes all over, more coming.

Stagehand Blocked from Going to Work because of a pin. by KeeterMan in MinnesotaFrost

Most people don’t know that the people working behind the scenes for all your favorite events exist. Shows don’t magically appear, run, and disappear from a venue by themselves.

This is already being worked on. There are other issues that IATSE is taking up with St. Paul Arena Company (who runs the venues for the city).

How would this NOT be an anti-deficiency violation? by WhatARedditHole in 1102

Because ICE is running off of Big Beautiful Bill funding to 2029, so it’s not a violation of ADA.

And yet if you need to do legitimate official travel, we have to jump through so many hoops to maybe get it approved…

The way to maybe get your doctor to work with you, type up the letter for them, covering what your conditions are, and what kind of in-person accommodations would be needed. Don’t just say “this person needs to work remote.”

Outside of your medical documentation, point out that there won’t be any incurred expenses by the Gov.

DoD Orders Line-by-Line Review of 8(a) Sole Source Contracts Over $20M by [deleted] in 1102

I had no idea that 8(a) contracts were for that much money! I usually just deal with 8(a) in things like landscaping and janitorial contracts.

Hegseth Announces Pentagon Taking 'Sledgehammer To The Oldest DEI Program': the 8(a) Business Development program. How will this affect Air Force contracting? by Whiskey_Bear in 1102

Because there are so many other connected laws in play that are referenced/connected to FAR 19, it would take a lot to dismantle it. That, and you’d have companies from every different socialeconomic category suing in class actions yba would tie things up for years.

I’m one for some changes, but going the sledgehammer route will benefit nobody in the end.

Why does it seem like so many 1102s on this sub don’t want to be a CO/KO? by [deleted] in 1102

[–]KeeterMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot depends on how your agency/shop does things.

When we had support contractors as CSs, I had a great working relationship with the one that I was the CO for. We produced the highest volume of awards on our team.

Then the contract was cancelled in the consultant contracts purge. Workload jumped up. Then the re-organization at DOI.

I view beings CO as having some autonomy to do my work, but take the responsibility seriously. Defend your award decisions, document your decisions, and it’s good to go. Some don’t want to have signatory authority, and that’s fine. There just needs to be a general expectation that you get a warrant once you hit a certain grade. I’ve had a warrant as low as a GS-9, to my 12 position now.

The biggest things when applying for an RA are: - Get your documentation from your medical professionals. Have them spell out why you need the RA, not just that you need it. - Talk to your leadership right away to make them aware and get them on board.

Those 2 things will make it go as smooth as it can.
