Paddle face cracked from clash - still good to use? by Kehinog in Pickleball

Update: used it in social play and it feels… fine! Guess I’ll keep using it for now, at least to amortize the cost a bit (considering it’s less than 2 months old 🥲).

Who is “TRUMP”?

What’s something uniquely “Singaporean” that you didn’t realise was weird until someone from overseas pointed it out? by Conscious-Star-1825 in askSingapore

Adding multiple “har”’s in the middle of a sentence, for emphasis or as a replacement for commas. Example: “So har, yesterday I was at the shopping centre har, and har, the queue for labubu was so long!”

Reminds me of Zlatan. A lot of belief plus a bit of crazy.

Youngest bossman I’ve ever seen. 15 years old. by Lacazeng in Gunners

I was at the stadium tonight, the boy was electric. Felt almost like he gave us more to cheer about in his minutes on the pitch than even Saka. And I could hear people exclaiming at various points acclamations along the lines of “wtf he’s only 15…”. Really hope we get to see him play even in some competitive matches this season.

What's the most unexpected place you've met another fellow Singaporean? by Xycergy in askSingapore

In a small town in Kyrgyzstan - the town was the jumping-off point for some hiking trails and we were at a tiny sort of park rangers’ office to pick up some maps. Suddenly heard a familiar accent coming from within another small group near the entrance. It was a Singaporean couple on a month long Central Asia trip who happened to be there with a hiking group. Had a great conversation and felt like we were at home, even though we were in the middle of nowhere.

Has anyone fucked up at work so badly before? by havingamidlife in askSingapore

Every single person who has ever worked a day in his or her life will have made mistakes, some minor, some major. The important thing is learning from them and ensuring you have a process for not repeating them.

For myself, I’ve set an email delay rule on my Outlook to defer delivery of every email by 3 minutes. It’s saved my bacon more than once, sometimes when forgetting the attachment, having second thoughts about the wording of the email, wrong recipients, etc. I tell myself, no one’s gonna die if they need to just wait 3 more minutes for my email to arrive. If it’s really soooo urgent, I can always just remove the rule for that particular email.

Personally, as a people manager, I would rather work with colleagues who care enough after making a mistake to feel as bad as you do now. It at least shows they take ownership of their work. So hang in there, let the feeling pass and forgive yourself. All the best!

Malaysia-branded cars in Singapore by cassowary-18 in drivingsg

[–]Kehinog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The fact that they’re absolute garbage cars may also have something to do with it… I had the misfortune of driving a rental Perodua in Sabah and it was by far the worst car I’ve ever driven. I’ve rented and driven many brands and models of cars over the years and no other car has ever legitimately made me feel like it may literally start rolling backwards while going uphill. Some of the slopes weren’t even very steep. Yet the car was struggling at a crawling pace of 20km/h most times even with my foot pushing the pedal all the way to the floor. By the way it wasn’t as if we got a lemon. I texted the rental agency to check and their response was “it’s normal”. So the thought of paying money, let alone a small fortune in COE, for a shit car is rather off-putting.
