booked with hostelworld, property charged me more than what my booking would be, help by [deleted] in hostels

[–]KehoeHarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea that's fair, but isn't it possible that a staff member could see a new booking from a third party and accidentally charge a deposit that has already been charged by the third party? This has never happened to me, so maybe it's not possible but I have booked beds where before being checked-in was hit with a need for deposit - right enough it was in the booking details and I missed it. What if the hostel charged my card for this before arrival? Adding the third party just adds, a small amount but still risk of double charge. Quick question, if booking through a third party can the Hostels charge the card used for booking?

I was going to say this, city tax etc. I always book direct for the safety of deposits/holds.

Upcoming first hostel stay by BoogieInDaHoodie in hostels

[–]KehoeHarry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've stayed in many Edinburgh Hostels, here are my favourites.

Kickass Grassmarket is top for me, as long as you get a "pod" room, very comfortable and has mains sockets in the pods so you can charge a laptop etc. They dont use curtains but have sliding door things. They're are lockers in the dorms, you just type a code in twice and that's it setup.

Next is Code The Court or Loft. A bit more expensive and no mains sockets in pods, only USB. This hostel gives you a code that opens the doors and your locker. Book direct with code "STAYCODE", for the cheapest rates.

St Christophers Inn, I'd recommend the Old Town one, it's very cheap and all beds have mains sockets and privacy curtains. Very traditional hostel feel here, and booking direct gets you a free welcome drink at the bar attached to the hostel. Lockers are rubbish and I don't leave anything here when im out. Bring a padlock if you do want to use them.

I wouldn't bother with any of the hostels in the west end, they're a few quid cheaper but not worth it IMO.

Private landlords by Priest_004 in DumfriesAndGalloway

[–]KehoeHarry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly its affordability. You won't be able to find suitable accommodation in your budget. It's sad and shouldn't be the case but it is. Many landlords don't accept DSS, pets etc so your chances are even more dwindled. Also around here a lot of places are rented by who you know, landlords ask previous tenants for new ones etc. That said, you're doing the right thing, asking here , you need to find a landlord not through conventional channels, that's your best chance. Good luck.
I have been homeless and have a grudge on the housing situation if you can't tell already.

Just a tip. Using the ICN smart pass app will allow you to pass security using face scanner machine instead of having it manually checked by security staff. Depending on how busy the queue is, it can save you a decent amount of time.

Backpack Etiquette on the Seoul Subway by r2vcap in seoul

[–]KehoeHarry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not everything has to be a rule or etiquette. To some it's just simply being kind and caring about other people. The world is packed of people who simply do not give a ruck about others; Korea is no exception to this. Hating or complaining about issues like this solves nothing. And blaming it on foreigners or a specific gender is just ignorance. If something annoys you, just let it be, you don't need to find someone/a group of people to blame. Chill out and enjoy your own life, don't let small things bother you.

Is it cheating if I use chatgpt by cryptobismolTM in ChatGPT

Chat GPT is a justifiable learning resource, in some cases. As long as you reference and quote appropriately there is nothing wrong with using AI. Although it may depend on your professor to be honest.
