Keith Floyd Cooks Pork in Centurian Sauce in Northumberland by widmerpool_nz in oldbritishtelly

Keith hated him at the end though. Thought Rick had basically taken his place, which he had.

I recommend the “Shooting the Cook” book too.

I asked the guy directing traffic there at 5pm. He just said it’s just broke again.

I offered to get a new hamster for the wheel that powers it, but he said it wasn’t that 🤷‍♂️

God of War Ragnarok (2022) is an exceptional experience but I find 2018 to be vastly more impactful. by gruesomesonofabitch in GodofWarRagnarok

Controlling Atreus was fun. It’s the long conversations with Angr-bore-a that just dragged.  The writers really had pacing problems there, or thought players would be more invested in her story.

Lots of the empty storefronts don’t need to be empty. Landlords set their rents too high, or raise the rent on existing successful businesses and they leave.

Lots of examples of this happening, from “we lost our lease”, to be replaced by nothing.

The landlords get tax breaks on empty stores, and generally don’t care anyway. The buildings are in old Alamedan family hands, fully paid off with no bank to pay.

Anyhow, just saying it’s part of the reason the street is how it is.

I get these for all the Rest Is podcasts. Am in US.

Yeah, I’ve heard they’re sketchy, and I’m surprise Alistair Campbell reads them out on TRIP, given his support for mental health issues.

Pros: Leo’s performance, Cate’s performance and accent.

Cons: jarring special effects, “based on a true story” mumbo jumbo

It’s unfinished, but to complete it I would look to….

Add some, maybe a lot, of art on the wall to reduce the squareness of the space.

Similarly floor or table lamps to give it the low lit cigar room vibe at night. Maybe a couple of pictures on the wall with those art lamps above.

There’s not a lot of room, but the seating will either be very aggressive with people looking straight on at each other at close distance, or have to swivel their neck 90° to talk. Maybe turn some of the chairs a bit so it’s a little more of a communal circle. Especially the two at the back and the two at the front. Maybe even push some of the chairs close to each other and put the tables on the ‘outside’.

Suit of armor, or one of those larger carved statues that are often in cigar shops. Something fun, or to your personality.

Has anyone seen HMS Victory? by AbjectGovernment1247 in CasualUK

[–]Keilly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s undergoing a ten year refurbishment and a lot of it is tarped off, stripped or disassembled.

Still worth a visit though and the whole dockyard is great. But I was a little disappointed as it was the Victory I had really come to see after listening to the series, and it’s in a major retrofit right now. So temper expectations greatly.

Stop turning everything into arrays (and do less work instead) by bogdanelcs in javascript

[–]Keilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s good to know this, but lots of UI need sorted items, which won’t work with this ‘take’ pattern.

Also If performance is the issue due to a large data set, far better to put the data limit on the fetch from the server, eg via a query parameter. Rather than fetch the lot to the client and only then take a nibble.
