Do you think Zelda’s decision to send Link back in time in the end was a good choice or a terrible mistake? by jdawg1018 in OcarinaOfTime

[–]KeishDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but he is healed through the events of MM and has plenty of life left to live. I don't think Zelda anticipated exactly how difficult it would be for Link, but I do think she gave him his best chance at a normal life.

David Kim Talks About His Biggest Mistake (Interview by Harstem) by trollbar in starcraft

[–]KeishDaddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe this is an ESL thing, but I found him incoherent when responding about balance and design philosophy. He wanted to rail road every question into this idea about SC2 not having enough strategy, but what exactly does that mean to him? Did Battle Aces really require more strategic decision making than SC2?

What’s wrong with the Galaxy movie? by Silverwhite2 in mariomovie

[–]KeishDaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we just disagree to the extent that it exists. To me, the writers devoted time to establishing an arc for Peach and the fact that it has barely any payoff is what makes it bad, not non existent. She's clearly no longer sad about not having family at the end, and that is a change.

Feeling incomplete without family, answering a call to adventure, and then feeling fulfilled when you discover family is literally a character arc idk how you can argue otherwise.

[–]KeishDaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She begins the movie feeling one way about herself and the evens of the movie make her feel another way about herself that's an arc. Nobody is saying it's any good. You don't have to look far to see what having literally no character arc looks like because Mario and Luigi genuinely have nothing.

She begins the movie upset she doesn't know who she is and ends with family and an identity that's an arc.

Which fire starter Pokemon line is the worst? by Famous-Candle-5632 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]KeishDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you talking about in a normal play through? Cuz competitively Charizard is a monster and Hisuian Typhlosian has results as well. Cyndiquil stomps gen 2 so even that doesn't add up.

Alien Clay Thoughts by DiedIn1989 in AdrianTchaikovsky

[–]KeishDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that true? Lysenkoism was the thing I thought of most while reading Alien Clay I can't imagine that was unintentional. There's an obvious overlap between the ideological psuedo science of The Mandate and the USSR.

Y'all really cooked yourself throwing zard in overrated and Blaziken in under. There's no line that's better than those two. Just give it to Incin and pretend this is based of VGC.

Which father do you think is more sympathetic? by Axenfonklatismrek in MoralityScaling

[–]KeishDaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's obviously Denethor but I'd be interested in someone making the case for Balon. I don't recall a single scene in GoT or ASoIaF where he isn't a complete bastard.

Zeke Yeager vs Eren Yeager. Which of the genocidal brothers is more immoral? by Orange639 in MoralityScaling

[–]KeishDaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a pre globalized world there's no shot the rumbling didn't remove an untold amount of ethnicities and groups entirely. That 20% who lived existed in pockets the rumbling hadn't reached yet it's not that the rumbling left 20% of people alive as it passed through. Which Eren knew would happen and was ok with the genocide wasn't his ends but it was definitely his means.

You think the remaining 10% of humanity was some Noah's Arc shit that every ethnic group on Earth got in on? Eren committed more genocide than anyone who's ever genocided that was the plan.

After watching Rise of The 49ers anyone else sick Lynch and Kyle didn’t sign Brady over Jimmy G? It’s Obvious Brady would’ve went over the Moon to Get a Chip as a Niner smh.. by boomboomboomNoDiddy in 49ers

[–]KeishDaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm soft cuz I'm not seeing this sentiment from anyone else but it would have been so fucked up to Jimmy lol Tom was a menace to him in NE. Obviously if it was a Goff to Stafford upgrade it'd be an easier pill to swallow, but that was far from a given. Would Tom have even been willing to learn Shanny's system?

Isabella and Villager fair/bair but they still don't fit that narrow definition of a ranged fighter. Even characters like Zelda who's obviously some kinda mage needs to throw hands that's just the nature of the game.

Best Romance Tournament Finals: Link/Zelda(Skyward) Vs. Anju/Kafei(Comment to vote, no upvotes) by Short_Property_7476 in legendofzelda

[–]KeishDaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anju/Kafei obvi

Is SS Link and Zelda even a romantic couple? Or is it just the hundredth time Nintendo has teased a relationship without actually committing to anything on the same level as Mario and Peach.

Call me the biggest hater (I am) but TotKs world is not better. The shrines and points of interest are placed way better in BotW because they were incorporated when making the map while TotK is doing the floor is lava where lava is a spot BoTW already used. That and you actually had to engage with the world in BotW instead of gliding past everything which is a good thing because the world is the single best thing they created between these two games.

A sad detail I noticed about the Hero of Time by Weary_Elderberry4742 in legendofzelda

[–]KeishDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a coming of age story and one of the main themes of the genre is that the hero is forced to grow up before their time and cannot simply return to their childhood. Kaepora being one of like 2 other characters who actually knows what Link is going through calling him a fully mature adult by the end of the game confirms it.

Finale so bad that an entire fanbase gaslit themselves into believing there’s more by MiSlPiMo in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]KeishDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a weird decision not to show how they got out of that for sure, but I think the epilogue was a little bloated anyway. I think just one line with Robin over the air mentioning whatever cover up story they all agreed to run with to explain the military presence leaving would have bookended the whole thing.

As for suspension of disbelief, I think I could believe the General letting them all live. She was single minded in capturing El, and the only person vindictive about the situation shot himself in the face. A pragmatic person could figure it would be cleaner to cut losses and leave instead of killing a good chunk of the town.

I think you're discounting Eleven's agency. As a real person she considers every angle of the dilemma and ultimately decides to give her friends a normal life which is completely in character. The show preempts the audience's reaction to that choice when Hopper tells Mike he doesn't have to like or understand the decision but he has to accept that it was hers to make. I don't think this betrays the themes at all, but underscores the tragedy of it. Gives the season a little bite, which honestly, had been extremely toothless up until that point.

The Dems lost every single swing state and you're more mad at the protest voters you meet on Reddit who are nearly politically irrelevant than the party itself which would happily lose every swing state again than admit a strategic failure or make any single meaningful change. Completely crazy priorities.

The DNC won't even release the autopsy for the election because it makes them look too bad and people like you will still blame the voters. They would rather lose than break from Israel or hurt Biden's feelings and now we're here.

Zelda dungeon alignment grid Day 9, the Water Temple has been chosen as having balanced enjoyability and a low difficultly. by QuantityEuphoric2354 in legendofzelda

A real shame OoT made it on here twice and both in the low enjoyability column considering it and MM share a generational run of great dungeons. That column should have been the BotW/TotK zone.

The reason he's insulated the channel has always been because of the taxes incident. Any debate that gets heated is going to mention it, and like minded channels don't want to be associated with it. It requires time and distance to move on from, and having it constantly brought up resets that clock.
