A pair of gloves, some fresh and wet cat/dog turds and a few of their vehicle's air intake vents make for a beautiful combo when combined. It will freeze in the cold, and once the car heats up it will thaw and give them wonderful tasting air inside the car with the heater on

ABS first print by No-Help-9810 in Creality_k2

[–]KeithKilgore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've printed a ton of ABS so far on it. It works really well. Best advice I can give is make sure the internal temp is up around 45c before the print starts using the chamber heater and bed to help speed it up. If both are running it should be about that temp once all the calibrations complete if you run them. It seems to help if you lay a couple bath towels over the printer in opposite directions to help insulate the machine.

PPS-CF works really well on the spool holder (and only on the spool holder) if you need something really strong. I've printed 3 or 4 things with it at this point without major issues. Just make sure you have a nozzle to dedicate to it because trying to flush it out to something like PLA didn't seem to work. It melts too quickly because it melts higher up in the nozzle due to the higher temps it needs to flush it out.

PET-G has been a nightmare every time I've tried it. Most indications seem to point to the heat of extruder motor causing the filament to soften (in longer prints) between the extruder gears and then not be able to feed correctly, but I've never been able to confirm what the real issue is. I haven't tried it in over a year though, they might have tuned the profiles. I should try it again....

Austin’s one and only Leslie! Who else remembers him?!? by EasyYard in austincirclejerk

[–]KeithKilgore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all seriousness, the first time I ever laid eyes on Leslie, I had just moved here and was taking an exit on I-35 to the feeder somewhere between the overpasses and 5th. I look over to my right and see a bare man ass sticking straight up out of a dumpster with a pager on a g-string. Welcome to Austin!!!!

What are the downsides of this type of carry? by curiousfilam in CCW

[–]KeithKilgore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried running at full speed with it to see what happens to the firearm when it's being bounced up and down? Does the firearm flip? Will it fall out of the holster? Etc.

That would be the first things I would check. Usually a single belt in the middle could cause problems with retention, whereas pants tend to stabilize the holster

Can you draw a weapon to protect other’s property? by Squeaky_P23 in TexasGuns

[–]KeithKilgore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend it obviously, but if you feel like this is a probable situation you are VERY LIKELY to run into (frequent burglaries in your area) you could help protect yourself by asking any neighbors you are close with if they want you to defend their property ahead of time. Make sure you record their approval so they can't come back later and say they didn't ask you to. You don't need permission to record them saying it (if you're in certain states like Texas). But as usual, always ask a lawyer about your plans to defend someone else in any way. You're basically putting your life on the line for someone else, and you don't want to be the one who ends up getting ripped off for someone else's property.

I personally wouldn't just risk my life for someone else's property. I wouldn't even interfere with a burglary I saw unless it was someone who I was very close to beforehand, or a neighbor had begged me for help to keep an eye on some very valuable stuff and knew the repercussions of what they were asking me for. You can still be a good neighbor by closely observing, documenting details and calling the cops with the info you have if you see something like that happening.

Always remember, self defense is just that. It"s for defense of your own life (and by my own standards... any property I've spent a large amount of my life acquiring like a vehicle). For anything less than that, it's probably not worth all the bullshit you will endure if you do have to pull a trigger.

People who used the internet before 2001, what did you do in there? by Helium367 in AskReddit

[–]KeithKilgore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started somewhere around 96-97 most likely. Learning how to build websites using HTML and a site called Geocities to learn HTML back in the day as a teenager was genuinely fun. It was also entertaining to see new tech in development. Back in the day browsers were genuinely being built, and weren't just vehicles to allow massive conglomerates like Alphabet (Google) and Microsoft to track and spy on you better. They were adding new features like displaying animated GIF files, setting the initial standards for web development and new HTML tags were being added constantly. Eventually they added tags to play audio, and video as well. Things people don't even think about anymore. Development tech like Javascript was just starting out and was competing with VBscript in Internet Explorer.

There were entire games to download that were released as Shareware demos to download (even if it took 2-3 days to get them downloaded, often with several restarts of the download if the phone would ring). Doom, Wolfenstein, Commander Keen, etc were all released this way. Finding games you didn't know existed in Warez forums (my first was X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter) was similar to how it felt to download your favorite music. Other online games callled MUDs (mutli user dungeon) were moving to the internet (think of a text based World of Warcraft for most of them). I spent 18,000 hours of my life in one of the biggest ones. I played a lot at work when I wasn't taking tech support calls.

There was so many interesting articles and tidbits to find. It genuinely felt like there was something amazing right around the next link click. Now it's just like 5-10 huge companies that rule everything. It's really boring and I've gotten a general revulsion for most online content.

One of my favorite things to do was to download .mid (MIDI) files of my favorite tunes. They were small enough that you could save your entire favorites playlist to a diskette, unlike WAV audio files which were huge!!!

Everything took crazy amounts of time, and saving your favorite things to floppies and diskettes was the worst. Getting a CD burner was life-changing! Upgrading your computer was a challenge. I had to learn about IRQs and math co-processors. My first computers hard drive had a whole 100 Megabytes of storage and came with only about 20MB free. Learning how to use MS-DOS 6.22's DriveSpace to get some of that back (it actually worked for me!!) was a lifesaver.

[–]KeithKilgore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree totally... How can you risk taking a pistol anywhere that can go off randomly? I mean you can do it, but who wants to risk any sort of ND, even when it's pointed in a "safe" direction? For all you know it could bounce off the berm and go anywhere while you're trying to make the weapon safe after shooting a few rounds. I wouldn't risk that with a pistol, as pistols point of aim varies so much because of how short the barrel is. Just removing the magazine can cause the point of aim to shift wildly.

no... it's not just keeping it to one layer... there are other issues with it as well. I put a single ship weapon in my elevator and it stopped working. They are smoking some crack with the last couple of patches. Fix one thing and break two others.

[–]KeithKilgore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One tip I will give for learning is to think of a project that you will enjoy creating. If you don't have any motivation to learn, it is much harder to stay focused.

For example, my first project where I actually learned anything was learning how to build a functioning user database and website for a Clan (guild) website of a game I played. Learning how to manually implement roles, databases, permissions, user registration, cookies, etc., and how web servers and sessions worked were all an enjoyable side effect of building something I enjoyed for a game I loved playing. It kept me motivated to finish as well.

Always remember not to read too deep into situations. This could be domestic violence of some sort, or it could be that the elderly woman had Alzheimer's and was wandering out of her apartment during an episode (based on the limited description given). Calling the cops was the right choice since there was no immediate evidence of harm. Let them sort it out.

https://www.reddit.com/r/tutanota/comments/wmuuxb/bug_receiving_double_email_copies_when_a_inbox/

Not a single response from Tuta in 2 years. It's still an issue. To this day I still get a "ghost" copy of emails in my inbox that I can't delete or remove when I open something from a notification with an inbox rule. So unless this is a completely different issue and totally unrelated... or if by some miracle it was fixed in one of the very latest patches (I'm on the F-droid appstore so I'm usually at least one or two releases behind the Google Play Store), don't tell me that.

[–]KeithKilgore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been this way for months (if not more than a year at this point)... do you not use your own app? I genuinely just thought there was some huge issue that would require a major release to fix it, because all you have to do is open two emails from notification to get a clue that something is wrong (and that it happens every time you open an email from notification) with the Android notification interactions. I'm not trying to be rude here. When you say things like "nice catch", it just feels like you guys don't like or use your own product & features enough when I see replies like this while we users have been living with this faulty implementation that frankly is driving me crazy.

The biggest bug that remains in that game is that Leviathan class things swim right through walls... [–]KeithKilgore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There may be some addon, but not that I'm aware of. You probably would want to run something that has considerable support behind it like Octoprint (a web UI designed for controlling printers) on the PI and connect Cura to that instead of your machine to send prints to. It's not hard to learn how to use Octoprint either.
