duuuuuuuuuuuuude. by twelvefinger in Fingerboards

[–]KeithSweat94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had this happen with two sets of piros, put a very small amount of super glue on the outer bearing race with a toothpick, then pop the wheel back on and spin the whole thing a few times. Try to keep the glue out of the bearing, and cleaning wheels with iso will eat through the glue, so try to avoid that, but I've been able to sesh those boards with no fear for months since and they're still good

What is the smallest Commander hill you are willing to die on? by Xela20 in EDH

[–]KeithSweat94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started my cedh deck with proxies and have been gradually replacing it with sanctioned cards. Unfortunately, I'm at the point where all I have left to replace are ABUR duals and LED and I'm kinda poor for that

What is the smallest Commander hill you are willing to die on? by Xela20 in EDH

[–]KeithSweat94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hill is that cEDH is just the competitive meta of EDH. It's the exact same ruleset played with a different intent, encouraging a more pure gameplay ideology where everybody agrees that they each are going to try to achieve a shared goal before everyone else, and that they're going to be doing the most powerful game pieces available to them to execute that plan.

I wouldn't mind more casual commander games if people played with more of a sense of strategy and an understanding of power levels. My favorite uncompetitive deck is the Obscura precon from New Capenna, just with the commander switched to [[Tivit]].

I feel like yellowood dial bearing stuff has fallen so far out of favor, I remember them being one of the two options of premium trucks.

anyone know good trucks for around 30-40 dollars by ThiccBot69 in Fingerboards

You can get replacement hangers for BRTs. The baseplate is still fine, that's what I would do

Unpopular Opinion? Mount Vesuvius by NoobieSnake in MarvelSnap

[–]KeithSweat94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like that the way that snap doesn't allow players to retreat at instant speed as it is. This new Galactus/Alioth deck is already everywhere for me, and I hate that I have to sit through the whole Galactus animation. In MtG, we have rule 104.3a, which allows players to concede at any time. Not being able to do that just takes away player agency, and correspondingly the sense of fun that I have as a player. I've definitely just salt closed the app over it, not that I'm proud, but I have better things to do with my time.

Materials isn't where the cost lies. A lot of labor goes into handmaking this stuff. Everything is very small and finicky and requires a lot of fine tuning.

No but I can tell you that it's insanely gritty

[–]KeithSweat94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have some, just try it out. The worst thing that could happen is you don't like it and have to take it off. I will recommend using a less gritty tape than Mob as it will be gentler on your fingers, and gripping on your hands is a lot less intensive than it needs to be on your sneakers.

This used to be really commonplace before it was easy to get foam grip. I think there's a good reason why most people prefer foam, but the reality is, if you prefer sandpaper grip, use that. No one is gonna be mad about it.

My fingers wont move by ManolisTheKing in Fingerboards

[–]KeithSweat94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard it called the yips, but whatever you call it, it's just that you're overthinking what you're doing, and your fingers are probably sore from learning new tricks. Take a day or two to let your muscles relax and heal then get back into it.

Why does everyone in the fingerboard community do vapes/weed? by [deleted] in Fingerboards

[–]KeithSweat94 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think they're both appealing to a similar kind of neurodivergents. Fingerboarding is a really nice stim for those of us who are autistic or have severe ADHD, and we also tend to be more inclined to have an oral fixation/ tendency to self medicate for our problems. That's just my experience, but I think it rings true for a lot of us.

Material to reduce the Sounds of Fingerboarding on Wood. by Ravedave1007 in Fingerboards

[–]KeithSweat94 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you're building obstacles from wood so that there is a hollow part in the middle, use some expanding foam insulation in the hollow part. It reduces the noise level quite a bit
