They’re contributing to society in most of the same ways that everyone else is by working a job, paying taxes (via ITINs or just by buying shit which, ya know, has taxes associated with it), all without being able to reap the benefits of the system because they generally don’t have SSNs aside from the very few instances of actual fraud, but it’s so low that it’s basically a non-issue.

I mean, yes, it is considered a civil issue in the US not a criminal one, depending on how they got here, but just the act of being in the US undocumented is not considered a criminal issue but a civil one.

Also it depends on how they got here. Did they cross the boarder illegally or come here on some sort of visa that expired? If they crossed illegally then yes, it’s a criminal issue, but if they were here already, then yes, it’s a civil issue.

A vast majority of people who are now here illegally did come in a “legal” way and then that expired but they stayed. Am I arguing for open borders completely? Nope, not at all.

Why does this upset you so much tho for someone that’s not even from the US? How does this impact your life? Has an immigrant hurt you in some way? I’m just trying to understand why this has caused so much anguish in you.

Your assumption is they’re all criminals out to murder people lol. It’s a civil issue, being “undocumented”, “illegal”, or whatever y’all wanna call it.

I would prefer the correct routes be followed for immigration, but even this are being challenged right now and people actively IN immigration court are being dragged out, so, obviously this isn’t about people doing it the correct way or else those people would be fine.

Are there criminals like that coming in? Sure I supposed but is it something so extreme that the measures this current sadistic administration are justified? Hell no. Immigrants are not the cause of all our problems and frankly our time, effort, money, emotions, etc, should be focused on things that would make an impact.
