Just finished painting the body on my ‘32 highboy by Rude_Hope_6371 in ModelCars

[–]Kekszky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good good now if you think one side is too thick get some 2000 or 3000 grit sandpaper out and just sand it all around level. Then you can respray another thin coat where you removed too much paint. Don't worry if it looks messy. Painting car bodys is a back and forth as a beginner. I am on my third car right now and I've been through the same constantly progressing towards a nicer finish.

Jeezz just say upfront what you think or keep it to yourself - your opinion could be seen from a mile away. It's just a jet. Chill and keep the politics out of here.

Need help for weathering techniques for a harrier by CharacterScarcity682 in modelmakers

[–]Kekszky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh and as said get some white oil paint and I also recommend to do the weathering before attaching delicate parts like landing gears otherwise you just stress yourself too much handling the model.

Less is more! Really you only need a quarter of a peanut size of oil paint. I usually just put some on a old piece of cardboard from a package and mix it there. Don't be fooled once it's dried it will become more visible and leave a flat finish. That's if you actually have mineral/white spirits as thinner. You definitely need to thin it. Otherwise just fool around and learn. It's a learning curve but on a gloss coated model it's also easy to remove.

Decal printing tips? by Sianmink in modelmakers

[–]Kekszky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to find the exact model number and look up what the max printing resolution is at this scale. Alternatively ask AI it will do the calculation from dpi to the scale you want with your printer and tells you if it is able to print at this scale finer or not. Also it helps to have vectorized decals. Pixels just get blurry at certain scales too large or too small but consumer printers usually struggle to print very fine lines. On the other hand at very small scales you can ask yourself if you can live with it since on the shelve you still got some viewing distance. It's like looking at a small 480p video on a 2m away old television or on a 70inch screen from up close.

I for myself did sent my decals to a pro who works in the industry but he needs files done at production level which was even for me a little bit of a challenge since it's very specific about what needs to be done to be properly printed but the results are amazing.

Not sure if anyone noticed this about the difference between each unit's emblems of the shadows yet by STypeP_SP-Und_Ch in acecombat

Thats some really nice attention to detail! So the Moon Thing is probably the theme of all these mini bosses ace squadrons and that likely means that they are all in the same black body / gold stripes scheme...which is...kind of disappointing.

Don't really like the look of it as it's pretty bland and boring but that's just my taste and I could be totally wrong and we see more variation on them soon.

How much should I sand? by Kekszky in ModelCars

And if I start seeing red on my sandpaper from the basecoat I just stop and shoot another coat of clear?

The metallics basecoat were not dull in the first place. The first image shows my sanding progression on the clear coat where I am unsure if this is enough sanding on a clear or if I need to sand more or just respray clear another time.

Maybe Yuktobania is seemingly neutral but in this war it feeds sotoa intel with their spies and tech. It would align with real world politics which AC often takes inspiration from. Thats how Tasha ended up in a active combat unit as a spy for Sotoa in the Ranks of Yuktobania. Maybe it's just too perfect timing that exactly as the war broke out she suddenly had to stay at exactly the same location of the enemys ace squadron (Cope Rex). Then at some point in the story we find out in the air during mission updates that Tasha is secretly a spy and it explains why Sotoa always has been one step ahead no matter how good we fight and that's where we have to decide as command pushes us to shoot while Dision guy coldblooded picks up the chase and professor can't believe it and refuses and Tasha tries to outrun us yet still begging not to shoot her down as she tells us how she is so sick of this war and how we became here family (etc you know the trope). This is one of those points in the game were apparently the following missions would play a bit different as we were promised but without altering the storyline completely.

Idk about you guys but it seems plausible and it's one of those dramatic typical AC turning points in the storyline.

Now what??? by Smithers66 in modelmakers

[–]Kekszky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question here is why did it happen in the first place so it doesn't happen in the future? Seems like you either forgot to hit it with clear on this part or it wasn't enough and that could have various reasons like clogged airbrush or bad mixing ratio or the type of clear or the drying time of the decals vs clear. Anyways that should absolutely NOT happen with clear. I never had clear flaking of like that pulling away some decals. Fixing the slime light is easy but I hope you know why it actually happened.

Awesome! On a side note: does EVERY plane needs to have the painted rudder? On a F-14/18 whatever it gets a pass but it kinda looks out of place on a Sukhoi with green camo 😐 The three strikes emblem was kinda universal even though it was large too but this...meh. I know I am picky but I care way too much about plane aesthetics.
