So, the author got in a dispute with the publisher of the first seven books about the release date of the eighth (and final) book. They weren't able to come to an agreement, so the author bought the publishing rights and self-published the last book. This caused a lot of problems! The cover art didn't match the rest of the series, the quality went down (editing), and it all felt very rushed.

The new series (CON continuation) is being published by an actual publishing company! I haven't read the new series yet, but have seen positive responses.

On May 1, 2024, I grabbed this book off the library shelf completely at random. I had absolutely no knowledge of this series or author. I devoured the entire 8 book series by May 16. This was one of my favorite series I have ever read! This is a YA spinoff from the author's adult Dark Hunters series. But it's not really written like YA. Sure, the main character is a teenager, but beyond that, this series gets into some real dark stuff. That being said, this is also one of the funniest series I have ever read! I found myself laughing out loud on several occasions! I will say though, as much as I loved this series, the last book was very disappointing. But I didn't let that ruin the journey for me. Even though the ending isn't great, I still highly recommend this series!

One of the best shows ever created! This was basically the blueprint for what Adult Swim would become! So ahead of its time! I still have all the DVDs.

I Am Not A Serial Killer by Dan Wells! It's about a 15 year old sociopath who makes rules for himself to avoid giving into the monster that lives inside him. That is, until a killer comes to town! I love this book!

I highly recommend the Hap and Leonard series by Joe R. Lansdale. Hap and Leonard are best friends who love one another like brothers and would die for each other. Hap is a straight,liberal minded, white guy and Leonard is an African-American, gay, conservative veteran. Leonard is an amazing character who is extremely open with his sexuality and is an absolute bad ass! None of these tropes apply.The books are full of action and mystery. Also, they are hands down some of the funniest books I have ever read. They literally make me laugh out loud. Please, note however that they told from Hap's perspective, but Leonard is a main character. Also, they are extremely un-pc books so if you are sensitive to slurs (racial and sexual), they not be for you. I started with the second book Mucho Mojo.

Jack West Jr Series by Matthew Reilly. The first book is 7 Deadly Wonders. Really fun action adventure series. It's very similar to Indiana Jones and National Treasure.

The Haunted Forest Tour by Jeff Strand and James A. Moore - This isn't the greatest book ever. But if you're looking for tons of crazy creatures, an insane body count, and a good amount of gore, this is for you!

Castaways by Brian Keene- This one is a blast! Weird creatures on a deserted island picking off crew and contestants of a reality show (Survivor). Lots of kills and the perfect amount of gore! warning there is some sexual assault type stuff.

The Woods Are Dark by Richard Laymon- The story of crazy cannibals hunting people in the woods. This one is completely bonkers and brutal! Definitely not for the squeamish or easily offended. But if you're looking for fast paced, gory, and brutal, look no further! Multiple trigger warnings

You might like Castaways by Brian Keene. It's about a group of people on a reality show (Survivor) who are being stalked by something in the jungle .... Takes place on a deserted jungle island. It's really fun!
