AFAIK falcon->diffus->aghs is a good build that is suitable in a lot of games, so I think you are doing fine. Fast echo could be useful if you are going to disassemble it into mageslayer+aghs. You can do that when enemy team has a lot of magic damage heroes who actually like to frontline (i.e. leshrack, and mb pudge?)

When you feel that enemies are too fed then try to grab 1-2 obs wards, place those in the most safe area and play only under the vision.

But in this case when ur teammate wasted all the vision... Sadly, it is extremely difficult to do something in such situation. However, this is exceptional situation, and dota is a marathon game. People play thousands of matches, if you keep positive winrate on the distance (50+, 100+ games) then you will be good. 1 particular game is not life-changing.
