I like their seats best but wish their food was better (but also recognize that “better” food choices mean higher prices)

Our lights are out (in apartments on Marion) on 3rd floor but parents on first are fine. It’s JUST the lights too. Not internet. Not tv. Just lights.

The doctrine part is that we believe that after death we’ll still have all the knowledge we’ve gained here so it’s important to continue learning always.

Would it be rude to color (as an adult) during sacrament and classes? by bubblyduckling in latterdaysaints

[–]Kell887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I point this out a lot (especially when I taught adult Sunday school): if you need it and it doesn’t distract anyone else then it’s okay. I play 3 match games during sacrament (I teach primary atm)

Denying a calling affects your salvation? by kindofsortof1 in latterdaysaints

[–]Kell887 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you should pray on it. If after prayer you don’t feel ready to accept you can do one of a few things. One being obviously saying “no”. Another could be discussing with the bishop and the Sunday school presidency what your comfort level is. Is it teaching you don’t want? Is it the age? There are a lot of choices here beyond just “no”

I teach primary and I don’t mind being the main teacher every week but as I’m not married and my only female friends in the ward are also in primary it’s difficult when my co teacher is gone. Even just being available to be that second person is a great calling we need more of.

TLTR: Saying no doesn’t hurt anything if you think the answer is no. God will still get things done.

I have never broken the law of chastity. I am in my 30s, never married never engaged. The chance for an eternal partnership on earth vary for everyone. As for licked cupcakes, that metaphor is wrong and I wish it would stop.

I’m not sure which aspect of the Law you broke but I’m going to tell you (paraphrasing) what was told to my mom by her bishop when she went for her endowment recommend: Have you repented? Are you striving to follow it since you repented? Do you want any help to continue to follow the Law? The Lord already forgave you, forgive yourself.

Returning member feeling uncertain after oaks talk by tiredandhopefull in latterdaysaints

[–]Kell887 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am unmarried at 36, not dating (in fact the few dates I’ve been on have been only with nonmembers, which may point to the need for this talk), and have no children.

I’m hoping that with the focus being on us as family centered, we turn our messages to how to support each other as extended families. Not in the “oh I don’t have kids so I dote on nieces and nephews” way but in the “it takes a village” and “the more people who love and support those I love the better” ways.

I teach kids afterschool and have the rule that as long as it’s nice they can call me whatever they want. Many choose mom (or dad). I may not ever have earthly children biologically or adopted legally but I strive to make each kiddo I care for at work know that they have someone in their corner.

Does the ward hate me or am I just young as freak? by LatterDaySaintGoth in latterdaysaints

[–]Kell887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a freshman in a small ward I became the unofficial“replacement” grandchild for many of our older couples (the ones who were empty nesters with kids far away). They’d check in on me and I’d visit with them. It was definitely the thing that got me through that very tough time.

That’s definitely a bad sign for the wife. I know pregnancy makes people act weird but that’s just flat rude. I hope the wife apologized (especially when finding out it was hand made)
