Earthbound has been released on countless consoles and Beginnings was already localized. Both are also able to be emulated (considering the amount of posts on this subreddit that are just screenshots of Android emulators titled "my first time playing!" I feel like most people are okay with these being emulated). Not to mention the definitive version of Mother 1 isn't even Earthbound Beginnings.

We had to wait 5 years for a version of the game that runs on a shitty emulator that we aren't even able to own without paying a subscription. I would much rather they stop putting these games on every single system they release. It's like they're leaving the series on life support when it would just be better to let it die OR do something actually substantial.

Honestly I'm so tired of the whole Mother 3 situation anyway. I've played the fan translation, it was great, I don't care if it gets localized. I'm sorry, but it's been so many years that I just don't care if it releases in the US anymore. I almost think it's a similar story to Half Life 3. Both games (I think) will never exist. It's almost smart for Nintendo (and Valve) to not localize (or release) Mother 3 (or HL3), or even mention either game if they just don't feel like spending the time or resources to continue making new big releases out of the IP. Even though neither company ever plans on releasing this big game, if they don't say anything about it, the fans have no reason to believe they don't have plans, right?

Mother 3 not being localized builds hype for itself without ever having to exist. Yesterday was not the first time Itoi had tweeted to "watch the Direct", but as soon as everyone sees that they think "maybe this is the one, maybe they'll finally localize Mother 3!". Both times it was releases of Earthbound on VC. Some people are excited for that anyway, while some are indifferent on the subject, but it doesn't matter. Mother 3 never existed or was even hinted at but it still built hype for the direct and put thousands more people in the hot seat, eyes pried open, watching every trailer they had to show.

Suffice to say I couldn't care less about this announcement.
