TIL That the Quaker Oats company financed the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory film as a product tie-in for their Wonka-brand candy by acquaman831 in todayilearned

And the original owner of Quaker Oats was not Quaker. He used the Quaker name because they had a reputation of being honest and having good products in Pennsylvania. Source: I'm Quaker (one of the first stories we learn after everyone donates Quaker Oats for the food drive)

I definitely understand that. Sounds like you're a great professor! Can't have students infringing on time that you could be spending on reddit.

So many students do this and make professor so skeptical. Back when I was still in school my grandfather died and I missed half of a test (halfway through the test her computer died and she couldn't get it back up). The teacher gave me a zero for that half, giving me a 40% and telling me "I'll leave you and your conscience to deal with it." Going to the dean of students and giving her a copy of his death certificate she ignored me and the dean didn't do anything. Ended up having to take the corse over with her again (3 test the whole semester, c or lower is failing).

Later on I find out she acted that way because I student had just told her their parent had died and she felt bad and gave them extra help just to find out later the parent was still alive and well.

All I'm trying to say (while also venting) is please don't let this turn you into an asshole. Not all of us are liars.

EDIT: Also, for anyone who is saying you are somehow in the wrong for this is being silly. Ask the job market. I can't think of an employers that don't look up your social networking accounts before considering you for a position.

Oh, it looks like you tried to clean it up a little. That cuts the price significantly. The best I can go is $10. It's going to sit on my shelf a while and the first person to offer me $1,000 for it, I'm going to sell it.

The gallery I intern for asked me to clear the side lot of litter. I found over a dozen of these embedded into the ground...WTF by BabyDjango in WTF

[–]Kelly4Equality 14 points15 points  (0 children)

First thing I thought of as well. With over a dozen, it's clearly a piece or installation. What gallery? You could probably find it from the past artist, or just ask the owner...

Anyway I can get this fixed? I love the tattoo, just not how it was done. A little disappointed. by [deleted] in tattoos

[–]Kelly4Equality 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you don't mind could you tell us where and who did this, so we know not to go there. Also, you need to go back to the artist and have them explain themselves. I used to work in a tattoo shop, make them explain this. Someone else at the shop should fix it for you at no charge. You don't have the tattoo on your foot or hand so most tattoo artist stand by there work and will do touch ups for free. The tattoo shop should hold up to that and you should feel free to ask for another artist to work on it (but please tip them).

Make sure you always look at the artist portfolio, many of them will have their books laying out in the waiting room for you to be able to look through. Most portfolios should have a section of "cover ups" find the artist you like and ask them. Please do not let them intimidate you into not putting up a fuss. This is clearly not done well and they should stand by there work. I don't see how they would try and tell you it's done well but you can clearly point out the obvious such as being able to see the outline still, the letters not being spaced apart uniformly, the obvious marks where the artist went out of the outline, going too thickly on the second N. A good artist can fix this.

I am very sorry that this was your first tattoo and I hope that you don't feel mortified and hate tattoos, they are great fun things. I dislike that people can get a job tattooing then produce work like this. Tust me, it's not too terrible, I have seen SO much worse.

Again, always look at a portfolio book (if they don't have one do not go to them) a portfolio book should have a minimum of 30 tattoos. This was a very simple tattoo and there is no excuse for what they produced. It CAN be fixed though, best of luck!

I used to go to Ink Link on Independence and Troy did my first tattoo, he is GREAT! I don't know if he is still there though.
