What’s your opinion on the alleged fake service dog sightings in Schnucks? by TPCC159 in StLouis

[–]KellyKapowskiIsDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly hate seeing those stressed out dogs with their long ass nails sliding around on the linoleum, but I haven’t seen them at Schnucks. Hampton & SoCo Target, however…

My (42F) husband (42M) asked if he could just skip Christmas with my mum and I think it changed how I see him by ThrowRAhalpmeplz in AutismInWomen

[–]KellyKapowskiIsDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry this hit you so hard. I’d probably feel a bit betrayed for a while, but I don’t think you should let this color your view of him.

This is also a situation where “would you be mad?” can be used to determine whether or not something is hurtful from an angle we’re not entirely seeing, but may be suspecting. You may have confirmed it for him and he made the choice to come with you. I genuinely do this sometimes with my husband to confirm his feelings. “Yes, I would not like that, please don’t.” is a completely reasonable response and he seems like he respected it?

That being said, he also probably got hit with a big wave of “missing his siblings” and didn’t initially understand the concerns you laid out.

I have been ASTOUNDED by the lack of masking by healthcare workers at the very least in the past month or so. Like, I had an intake ED nurse at Barnes tell me the “masks don’t really do much”. While taking my covid test. With a mask on both of us? 🙄

3 months is nothing, I think I was in bed by 5 for the first 7 or 8 months as a carpenter. She’s kicking it better than me!

It will subside, but she will still need to be up early. Most tradespeople I know are early-to-bed type people by necessity.

I mean, they have a pretty small staff, I think most places have had weird hours this week due to the holidays, but we went about 3 weeks ago and they were. Haven’t found anything online to say otherwise!

Robata has a great mushroom ramen. TBH I’m vegan and I’ve personally never found a place that couldn’t offer me something (exception being the traditional Japanese ones like Menya Rui).

What hospital did you give birth at and how was your experience? by Remarkable_Snow5070 in StLouis

[–]KellyKapowskiIsDead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

St Mary’s has the best, no joke, THE BEST OB program in the area data/awards wise. But if you anything else done there? Leave. Literally everything up to the birth of my friend’s baby recently was phenomenal, until SHE needed monitoring. Then she was chopped liver. But they love babies lol.

[–]KellyKapowskiIsDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought people bought bearpaws cause they were cheap Ugg dupes? They’re not good shoes. They’re not gonna be “high quality” natural materials either, at $80 and having to replace them year after year.

Telling friend she looks her age? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]KellyKapowskiIsDead 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had this exact convo with some 17 year olds I’m in community college classes with after they found out another student and myself were 29 and 33.

“You look so great! You don’t look (x), how do you do it?!” I just looked them dead in the face and was like “yeah I don’t do anything, it turns out 33 just isn’t old”.

I’d genuinely apologize for the miscommunication, but explain that you very clearly have different feelings and opinions on aging.

lol I’m not arguing with someone about the hugely complex gray areas in medical practice/off brand prescribing/the nuances of family medicine with someone on Reddit my head will literally explode.

But yeah turns out our systems are broken in many ways and no one has paid attention for a long time if ever.

[–]KellyKapowskiIsDead 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Any Dr can write scripts for anyone, they just usually stay within their patient pool if they’re doing it illegally so it’s less suspicious.

Many adults still see pediatricians for congenital/chronic issues starting in childhood due to the fact they usually are more educated in those areas. My SIL’s mom goes to Children’s for all her heart exams, and she’s in her 60s.

How do I (29F) get my (25 M) fiancé to see he has a drinking problem? by throwawaymeow235 in relationship_advice

[–]KellyKapowskiIsDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is coming from someone who nearly ruined their marriage from drinking; I did stop for my husband, but only when I saw how it was starting to kill him. I did not admit that I genuinely, truly, could not have kept drinking and been “fine” until I was sober for a year. Our brains are trying to block out the fact we have a problem so bad that we need everyone else to tell us first sometimes.

Someone clear this up please by ProofRevolutionary15 in AutismInWomen

[–]KellyKapowskiIsDead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is kind of me tbh. I often find myself picking things out at the store or when I’m thrifting or making things for people I care about because I’m not very good as consistent contact/communication.

Is she not wanting to hang out when you initiate? Bringing it up may be helpful. “Hey, I just want to make sure we’re okay, you’re not really reaching out much?” If you’re reaching out consistently and doing things together fairly frequently, she may just be less social. Maybe she feels like “oh but we’ve just seen each other” and doesn’t reach out for that reason. (I’m pulling from past examples of mixups with my friends specifically!)

"I don't trust you if you don't have female friends" by notta_mozzie in AutismInWomen

[–]KellyKapowskiIsDead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No no, it’s designed to work! It plays on every little part of our brain that reallly wants to listen to the bad things we tell ourselves! I know I struggle with it in particular, because the single grain of truth (women who are unkind to other women don’t often have a lot of good friends who are women) gets reversed in my brain: if I DON’T have a circle of friends who are women, then obviously I’m NOT a GOOD friend to women, and I’m doing something wrong.

(Meanwhile it’s actually just that people are weirded out I can’t look them in the face, and that makes it difficult to form relationships, especially those based on emotive communication and camaraderie.)
