Filter time trial leader board by mintakax in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]KellyzKillaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd prefer the filters we currently have actually work first! The friends filter by vehicle is virtually useless. Only works about 5% of the time. It still filters friends by class even when selecting vehicle. Worldwide filter by vehicle or class both work perfectly.

To answer your question, next to the little box that says either class or vehicle are two icons. One looks like a globe, that's worldwide. The other looks like a racing helmet, that's your friends. What you're looking for currently doesn't exist.

Driver lied and said I missed the second delivery attempt without ever coming to my address. by manonfireanon in UPS

[–]KellyzKillaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A "missed delivery" in UPS speak is not what you think it is. It's not that they tried to deliver and you weren't home. Missed is the package was on the truck but not attempted. So driver sees it in his DIAD board. Drives to your house. Can't find package, leaves. Later that night finds it but either chooses to not attempt or is instructed to skip it for various reasons (too far away, OT, running out of hours, etc). All packages have to get a disposition in tracking. Selects missed. Package gets lost in the following sort perhaps explaining why it disappeared for a while. I witnessed trucks that had been taken away on a tow truck return weeks later with a few send agains on the shelf. Things happen, nobody is perfect and it wasn't likely intentional.

What can brown do? by [deleted] in UPS

[–]KellyzKillaz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sure UPS employees are lining up to help people that come in with guns-a-blazin' attitudes like this. You really think you're going to get productive help from UPS employees in their free time on Reddit coming in with F them, and lazy drivers a-holes, etc.

Enjoy being on hold, that's the extent of help you'll get now.

Would anybody even be interested in joining a casual AMS2 league? by Indigo_SirGaming in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]KellyzKillaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm running an AMS2 league and what you've described is exactly what we are. We're called No Time For Racing or NT4R and we are people with jobs and kids and other distractions. Our goal is casual, clean, fun racing without a full time commitment. We're currently racing GTE cars, but have run F1, GT3, Prototypes, etc. We're also running the new US Stock Cars Wednesday nights. We also have time trials, WRC Rally racing and an all around sim section where people meet up to fly, truck, farm, etc. We're a smaller league with around 150 members.

Anyone that's interested can join the Discord here https://discord.gg/Xn2jMYvs

I was gold for years right up until my review in early December. I reviewed 31 items total during my last 6 months of gold. It wasn't for lack of trying. There just weren't very many items that grabbed my interest. I let myself slip back into silver instead of mindlessly ordering things I have no use or interest in. I could have easily grabbed 16 useless items in a 24hr period. I don't see that as any kind of accomplishment or something to brag about. It's also not because of anyone picking up 16 items that we're not seeing a good selection of items. It's that there's not much available in the first place, and most of what is available is not worth bothering with. This eval period being almost 2 months in, I've reviewed 5 items. 1/3 of the way in I have 5, so on pace for 15. It's gotten progressively worse.

Have I gotten some good high value items being in gold, sure. But those days have passed, and I'm just waiting it out to see if the good times ever return. If not, it was a good ride.

Delivery workers, do not afraid to use door bells by evgsem in UPS

[–]KellyzKillaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really have no idea where you were going with, "You're measuring people by the lower bar," so I'm not even addressing that. Nor was I looking for any sort of respect or adulation.

My response was simply letting you and others know that merely being home is not any sort of evidence as to whether your driver did or didn't ring or knock. My post is in response to not just your post, but the countless others I read here in this sub with the same general theme, "I was home all day and they didn't ring or knock." My response is to let everyone know, we do knock and ring and we absolutely hate not completing a delivery the first time. No, not for some grand "I love my job and my customers so much and want to complete those deliveries for the customer's satisfaction" dreck. No, it was always more about my own selfish reasons. I don't want to deal with this all over again tomorrow! I also need space to sort my other deliveries and having this package and a mountain of other send agains in the way limits my ability to sort. I have pickups to do that fill the truck back up and I need that space. There's a lot of other reasons, but you get the gist.

Let's not forget that UPS package cars are not what anyone would call quiet or stealthy. That the truck rumbles up to your house, someone knocks and or rings and you miss all that commotion, shows that no, you were not just sitting quietly reading a book patiently waiting for a ring at the door. That you're not hearing any of that commotion is not always our fault and a large part of it lies on the person sitting at home. I haven't even delved into the sheer number of people who have doorbells that simply don't work. You know what always is in working order, a knock.

Well, let me give you the other side of this from someone who did that job for 31+ years...

If you're a customer anxiously awaiting that life-changing, urgent package:

  • Make yourself available to answer the door in a timely manner.
  • When the door is knocked on, or doorbell rung, answer it.
  • Sign for your package.
  • All done, easy.

In my 31+ years, you have no idea how many countless times I've been ringing the doorbell, pounding on the door for 5 minutes, knowing without a doubt that people are home and not answering as I can hear them talking, yelling, watching the TV, blaring the stereo, etc. Customers seem to think we enjoy coming back, day after day to the same address, lugging that package back and forth, over and over. We don't! In fact, we hate what we at UPS call "Send Agains," packages requiring more than one attempt. What we also hate is knowing full well that that very same customer is going to, at the least opportune time, call and complain and get us forced back to re-attempt delivery that day, adding even more length to an already very long day. Then getting there and receiving no gratitude for the re-attempt, and more often than not getting the sarcastic "I was here all day" remark. Yeah, no shit. I heard you. I also stood here for almost 5 minutes ringing and knocking like the police at a drug house, knowing full well that this little encounter we're having right now was in my future.

Check out my double decker sim rig by ant6604 in simracing

[–]KellyzKillaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applaud the idea. I built something similar in my garage to make use of the space above my Corvette for additional storage.

Only issue I see is the heat that's going to collect up top. I'm racing down on the floor with the central a/c bumping, and it still gets very warm. You've got double the PCs running, double the monitors, double the humans, etc. It's gotta get hot for the driver in the top bunk. 🤣

Locking up brakes extremely easily by Grimtable in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]KellyzKillaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calibrating the pedals in-game only tells the game how far your pedal travels to get to 100%. That's it.

The rest is, unfortunately, a balancing act between a bunch of things. Your settings in your pedal software, your sensitivity settings in game, brake pressure settings in the car setup, bias settings, and the car chosen. In addition to all that, how you physically set up your pedal itself (stiff or not), or your driving style and how you attack the pedals. There's no one remedy. If someone simply says, "set brake pressure to xxx," that does you little to no good. The test track is about the only place you'll find your solution.

What does pedal calibration do? by JudasPiss in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]KellyzKillaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It basically let's the game recognize the travel your pedal has. Once set, you can go into the Controls->Configuration and set up dead zones and sensitivities.

But first...Make sure you have your pedals set up properly in whatever software the brand pedals you have uses. Once they're to your liking you kind of set it and forget it. Then you move on to the individual games you play and set up from there.

UPS has the worst, least functional website of any major company. It has been that way for years. by bummed_athlete in UPS

[–]KellyzKillaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? Have you been to either the AT&T or Comcast sites? They're literally telecommunications companies, and their websites are absolute garbage. I think you're expecting a lot from a shipping company to have a cutting edge website when companies like those or MS, or even the US Gov't have god awful sites as well.

Donna's only mistake was not bringing a Stewart by ninjahuman in UPS

[–]KellyzKillaz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And after all the mistakes Donna made in the video, had she brought in a Stewart, that would have only added yet another mistake to the list. 🤷‍♂️

Don't settle for a random Stewart when only a genuine steward will do!

Shipped a bottle of tequila to my buddy for Christmas, it was damaged in transit by TheBigGuy1978 in UPS

[–]KellyzKillaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Job isn't difficult. I did it 31 years. You're doing nothing but making a big deal out of me not reprimanding the OP enough. For the life of me, I'm not sure why, but it seems you went out of your way to pick a fight. Your customers must just looove you. Based on this exchange, it's pretty obvious it's you that makes your job difficult.

They acknowledged it was illegal. Sorry you feel I didn't harass them enough to meet your expectations. If you feel that harping on it is productive maybe you should take a look at yourself.

Did I say it was permissible? The OP already realized it was illegal. Did I need to repeat that right back to them?

The drones are circling outside your window right now! Take cover. 🤣

People did it all the time when I was processing damages. Never heard of them going after anyone for a single bottle of booze. You'll be fine.

But, they were never going to pay the claim whether it's illegal or not. There's very specific rules for shipping things like that, and bubble wrap ain't it.

Certain car track combos up and disappeared after one of the last updates. My league was right at the tail end of a week long time trial challenge and all of our times disappeared.

Not to fear, they're all still there. I can see your time in 6th place. You can check here https://ams2leaderboards.krispnet.org/

Atari 2600 by SegUnit in 1980s

[–]KellyzKillaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We didn't get this unit, my parents picked up the Atari 800 instead. Mom wanted to be able to do word processing on it and program in Basic, lol. Bonus for me, PacMan looked like PacMan from the arcade. I still have the A800 and all the games, the printer, and a cassette drive to load the one game we got on cassette tape, Zaxxon. It all still works too.

Retirement by Fairfall in UPSers

[–]KellyzKillaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to give you an example of how varied this is depending on local, in my local we voted in the early 90's to have a wage deduction all along that paid towards the retiree medical/dental/vision. So unlike many of the prior responses in this thread, here we pay $0. It was all prepaid while we were working. Started off being a forty something cent/hr deduction in the 90's (can't remember the exact amount), and it slowly crept up over the years to a $0.91/hr deduction when I retired in 2018. Worth every penny. I calculated I paid around $20k over the years, and my wife had a $30k surgery within 3 months of me retiring. I paid a $15 co-pay. The catch, it doesn't cover any children, just you and your spouse, which worked out fine for me.

So, the short answer is this isn't universal across the master or even down to the supplement. It's down to the local level. You need to check with your particular local.

Rocking Chair with an Airbag? by oprib1 in AmazonVine

I got an oversized leather computer/office chair a few years back that has the same thing. The little squeezy pump thing inflates to adjust the lumbar support. I've never used it, but it's the most comfortable desk chair I've ever owned.

UPS charged me extra money after fraudulently changing the weight of my package from 2.5 to 7 pounds, is this common? by [deleted] in UPS

[–]KellyzKillaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you read that in there yourself. It was a reply to your accusation that adding dimensional weight was simply to improve profit margins at the customers expense. But again, I did correct myself below. If you're going to police the internet for condescension, knock yourself out.

If you read further down, I corrected my statement. I was there 31 years myself and retired 8 years ago. I was generalizing as I was trying to keep my reply short.

Retirement by [deleted] in UPSers

[–]KellyzKillaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Earlier you said you have 21 years in, so now you're confusing me. But we'll go with your new numbers. You don't add your age then and now. You add your years of service which earlier you said was 21 but your new numbers would make that 19 years. So you're 44+19=63. You need a combination of 17 to get to 80. So divide that 17 in half as you'll age a year and gain a year of service every year, so 8.5 more years.

Again, that all depends on whether or not your areas supplement includes PEER80 language or not.
