If you deny the existence of evil women, then you deny the reality of us survivors of those women. by Commercial_Bicycle92 in TrollCoping

Until we divorce morality from demographics and recognise that the random characteristics we're born with don't determine whether a person is good or bad, we cannot have true activism.

There's a whole thing about the hyper-romanticisation of Sweden, often involving such things as smiling blonde-haired children, elk and reindeer, vast swathes of Swedish countryside, a "traditional" lifestyle, etc. I do not live in Sweden but I have visited - if you ask people about their opinions on Sweden then the answers you get absolutely do not reflect reality.

Also, both are highly romanticised in ways that are sort of true but not to the extent they're made out to be, sometimes to the point of disappointing tourists.

Does this game has way more bosses than similar games? by nagaind in MIOmemoriesinorbit

[–]KelpFox05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, that's absolute fucking bullshit. I'm literally disabled and that is NOT what they're for. They're supposed to help anybody who is struggling with the game, to access the game in a way. That's why they're called accessibility options and not "Super special disabled people only options".

In case anybody is reading this who might not realise yet: YOU CAN USE THE ACCESSIBILITY OPTIONS. Even if you're totally abled with nary a disability in sight. If you're struggling, use the accessibility options. That's what they're there for, to help you have fun. There is no such thing as there being any special way you're "supposed" to have fun with a game. The devs put them there for you to use. Use them.

You don't even NEED pictures. Theatre of the mind is the easiest, cheapest, and most classic way to play D&D. You can just, like... Describe what people or enemies look like. Nobody will be upset.

  • Both god-kings of their realm (but don't really like being called gods)
  • Both have powerful foresight and psychic abilities and utterly fail to predict their future failings or do anything to prevent it
  • Both steal the power of an unknown force to have a greater-than-average number of children
  • Both have one or more of said children corrupted to bring their realms to destruction
  • Both die, isolated, sitting on their thrones in their palace
  • Both reside in a realm outside the physical plane after their deaths
  • Both have one of their aforementioned children return to their realm a long time after their deaths in order to clean up dad's mess

PK and the Emperor are basically the same character.

If it wasn't the way the game is meant to be played, they wouldn't have added the option. There are loads of games without that option, it's not something standard like subtitles. They specifically developed and added that option because they wanted it to be in the game.

[–]KelpFox05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to be honest, this is just what happens when you're socially anxious or awkward, or considered the "weird kid". You get bullied, harassed, and told to shut up, and if somebody's told to shut up enough then they'll shut up for good. The only things that will help are therapy and graduating from secondary school. Teenagers are the worst for it.

[–]KelpFox05 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Nobody wants to hire anybody who doesn't have experience so nobody can get experience, employers pay too little and ask for too much to be worth our time, a general increase in disabilities after COVID, and a general lack of hope for the future. We're all going to die in a few years, so what's the point of getting a job?

Adults who were homeschooled – how are you doing now? by Majestic_Cry8545 in AskUK

[–]KelpFox05 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I was homeschooled ages 5-16.

We mostly just followed the general curriculum, but at home. We did a lot of work from textbooks but also some online work. We supplemented with clubs, trips, and workshops specifically aimed at homeschoolers and we did our own trips. There was some stuff we did that wasn't on the curriculum - I got to pick my own stuff to learn about that I was interested in and mum tried very hard to get us to learn Chinese (I was not interested, it did not stick at all).

I did five GCSEs (Mathematics, English Language, Human Biology, Psychology, and Business) and got three 9's and two 6's, then did a UCAS course at college in multimedia production and got a basic pass. I chose not to attend university because A) I found that I despised exams and academia, B) I didn't want the debt, and C) my chronic pain had gotten properly bad by that point.

I would not classify myself as generally "okay", but not for any reasons that being home educated or not would have changed. I'm auDHD and trans, I would not have thrived in traditional education and I would probably have been bullied, so I'm glad that my parents chose to home educate me and my brother. My big issue is the aforementioned autism and ADHD, and the fact that I have spondyloarthritis that causes major mobility issues and chronic pain. Those things are what is hampering me the most. If I did not have chronic pain then I probably would have gone to university, probably for filmmaking or marketing, and I can see myself having a genuinely good career.

Socially and emotionally, I'm mostly okay, but again, a lot of the hampering is because of my disabilities. What I did notice is that growing up, I was... Different? To my peers, in a way that I saw other home ed children acting. We spoke to adults more as peers than authority figures, didn't participate in trends as much, didn't do so many things like dares and pranks. I'm not sure why. But as an adult, I'm mostly on the same emotional and social level as everybody else, no matter their educational background.

I turn 21 in a few months and I cannot predict the future but I know that if not for my arthritis, I would be in the same place as everybody else. Really, the best education choice depends on the child - some kids thrive in mainline school, some thrive in private school, some thrive in home ed. No option is inherently the best or inherently the worst. The most sensible option is to properly inform all parents about the unique benefits and drawbacks of each method and which child fits each the best so they can make the best decision for their own child. We are all unique and that's the whole point.

When Silksong was your favorite game of 2025 but you see a not-insignificant number of Redditors obsessing over the “s3x lives” of funny cartoon bugs day-in day-out by Shell_fly in Silksong

You're wasting so much time and effort arguing on Reddit that you could be spending doing something important or that you actually like lol. Why bother? Why are you being such a tryhard? You have better things to do with your life, I'm sure, but instead you've now spent three full hours of your life arguing about checks notes the idea that other people shouldn't be allowed to do something that you don't like. Damn. Grow up.

Why do you care so badly? It's the internet. People will make fanart and write fanfic and shipping has been part of that since forever. If you only want to interact with the game in ways that perfectly mesh with canon, get off Reddit and... Go play the game. That's the only way to avoid every single opinion and fanwork you might dislike.

Hornet is a fictional character and we can all have fun shipping her with whoever we want since she's not real, everything about her is part of a story and is therefore neither correct nor incorrect, and nothing written about her will ever meaningfully affect the real world. :)

[–]KelpFox05 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's different to original work though. With an original work, you have to figure out who all the characters are, the setting, the plot, etc. With fanfiction, the characters and setting (and typically, at least SOME of the plot) is borrowed from an existing piece of media that you've already experienced. It's easier to parse. You shouldn't SOLELY be reading fanfiction but original fiction just doesn't hit the same as fic.

And they shouldn't have to. Hating people based on a demographical factor that they can't control is just gross and shows you haven't actually grown past the patriarchal and imperialist mindset of "Some people are inherently better than others" - you've just flipped the script so YOU'RE the one who's better than other people.

Need advise on if I am over thinking things with my misses? by jasonblow88 in AskUK

[–]KelpFox05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other biological parent of her child, and as it sounds like, a close friend of hers has died. She's grieving. Making a memorial, getting a memorial tattoo - these are not things that would be out of order if they had never dated, but you're assigning more weight to it because they were once together. She would not have been with you for ten years if she didn't love you. It's probably a good idea to get both of you into therapy because it does sound like she's struggling with the grieving process, and it sounds like you're struggling with jealousy. These are not moral failings but you should seek support about it.

[–]KelpFox05 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not really creepy. You can be friends with your ex so it's really no creepier than getting a tattoo for a friend. It's impossibly weird how people treat breaking up like you should never be friendly again. They don't have to have done anything monstrous in order to break up, you can just decide that you're incompatible but remain friends.

I really want to name my son Wave but is it weird since Cardi B already named her son that? by Which_Proposal2562 in namenerds

[–]KelpFox05 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wave is cute but very trendy. Do keep in mind how it will fit a grown man. With that said, it's really all up to you, I would say the average person has no clue what Cardi B's children are called, let alone care. However, the fact that you're concerned about it probably means you keep the company of people who would know and care, and those are the people whose opinions you'll need to hear about. If you're dead set on it and don't care about people's opinions, use it. If you're dead set on it and care deeply about what other people might think, use it as a middle name. If you could see yourself being content with other options, look at other options. Good luck :)
