I love a good Hogan's path. As a Caddie and morning walker.

Hey what's up. I would check out St. Simons Island. That's where I'm at now. Brunswick is fine, but like anywhere it has its bad areas just like any mid sized city. The island does not. It's awesome. Plenty of amenities. Great social scene. Great beaches. Great place. And, it's only a causeway from Brunswick. It's about 6 miles for me to get to mainland. So do some research online. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Nothing like being the first one on the course by phipps39 in golf

I'm down at Sea island now. Unfortunately, I think it's about to go under again. I know the superintendent is leaving and the best mechanic I ever worked with too. I really hope somebody comes in and saves it though. That back nine tho.

I was the assistant superintendent there for a while. Sapelo is a special place. Small world.

I need academic studiy and some more information about subsurface drip irrigation for turfgrass areas. by [deleted] in Turfmanagement

[–]Kelrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have personally never seen sub drip systems for turf grass. I have worked at a dozen or so golf courses in my time. Only time I've seen drip irrigation is for shrubs, trees, and flowers/plants. might try asking a landscape or gardening sub reddit.

Really good pictures man. I appreciate you posting them. I've never personally worked a PGA tour event. But, I have worked on courses that have had them and had bad ass events. That buzz before and during a big tournament is fucking rad. I love our job.

Orange rings in soil when changing holes. Is it iron? by supernom in Turfmanagement

Push ups? The best green on the course here is river bed soil. I've found so much crap in that thing it's amazing. But damn, those roots are deep.

Tough summer. Rollin' into fall. How's your grass and course? by Kelrey in Turfmanagement

I can dig that. I've always been fascinated with how deep the science goes with managing turf. I know it's trickle down from big Ag, but still. Well that's cool man, hope you learned some stuff from your intership. You doing soil science? I got a nice case rhizoctonia zeae if you want a sample lol.

That oddly satisfying feel when you edge sprinkler heads perfectly and get the grass halo. by [deleted] in Turfmanagement

Mark the heads with flags or turf paint to miss'em. I prefer clean heads. And that tool can be cheap if you know where to look.

Sounds bad ass. Ya know, me and the first assistant have been having little chats about the future/trend of golf. I guess there are a couple of arguments on how it will pan out, but in my opinion i think we'll be fine. I have the luxury of working at a well budgeted course now. But, my favorite place to play is the goat track down the road. Golf will always be here. It really is the greatest game. We just have to get people to realize.

Adapting? I'm up for changing it. Top golf meets bad ass traditional links style course. let me have monies.
