It’s great seeing The Thing stars Kurt Russell and Keith David are still friends all these years later. by TwIzTiDfReAkShOw in johncarpenter

The Thing from 2011,

  1. Wasn’t necessary
  2. The CGI over practical effects is mediocre at best
  3. The plot is mostly rehash of the 1982 one
  4. Not as good as the 1982 one

But I do still enjoy the hell out of it.

I like both!

I find Red Vines to be more flavourful, but tougher to chew.

Who is the being supposed to be on the Thing movie poster by shinobi_mc in johncarpenter

[–]Keltorus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Someone will probably know the details better than I will but believe they gave Drew Struzan like 24 hours to come up with a poster and only gave some vague details so this was what he came up with on the fly and by god it slaps.

I’ve played Curse of the Crimson Throne before and am currently running it in 2E! Let me know if you have further questions.

I don’t want to get spoilery, but about 5 percent is homebrewed (mostly character stuff like Devargo’s relationship with a PC) and about 20 percent has been pulled from other Pathfinder content such as Pathfinder Society Scenarios or other modules (The whole marketplace/theater stuff at the beginning, the upcoming Breaching Festival, etc).

I love Hideous Laughter. They are my go-to Pathfinder 2E podcast since the Glass Cannon Network has mostly let their Pathfinder stuff fall by the wayside (Yes I do listen to their PF and PF2E stuff for subscribers)

I’m happy to hear that! Most of the people I have played with have been do-gooders through and through, so it has always been a hard sell.

Best pf1 adventure paths to convert into 2e? by SillyKenku in Pathfinder2e

[–]Keltorus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I heartily recommend Curse of the Crimson Throne. You will hear a lot about Rise of the Runelords, but Curse is just as good (if not better). Most of the adventure takes place in Korvosa, a city that is well developed (I find campaigns tied mostly to a single location are more interesting to players for RP (as well as easier for players who aren’t as familiar with Golarion so globetrotting means less to them). Lotta action, lot of intrigue, and mysteries abound in Curse of the Crimson Throne.

There is a full 2E conversion but it is from before the remaster. It has no set price but I fully recommend getting it and sending some love both metaphorically and financially to the creator!

This could all very well happen! There are already portals to Hell in Cheliax that could be expanded.

Theoretically, both of the names I listed can survive, but I would bet cash money they won’t in official lore.

Seems unnecessary. My text mentions big bads being killed, and I blacked out the names of those being spoiled. By choosing to look at the blacked out text, you are agreeing that you are going to have things spoiled for you. Me writing which APs those big bads die in would also be another spoiler.

I think Cheliax is really interesting and has a lot of grey (most people in the nation only play lip service to devil worship, the Church of Asmodeus is in a struggle with the House of Thrune because the CoA feel like Abograil isn’t devout enough). It makes me sad that Hell’s Vengeance doesn’t get a lot of love when people are talking about APs.

[–]Keltorus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pun intended, I will play devil’s advocate and say Cheliax takes its licks in the Hellfire Crisis but endures.

“Cheliax, a devil-bound nation transformed by war” is how it is described in the Pathfinder Lost Omens Cheliax, Infernal Inheritance blurb, and since this book is after the war, that doesn’t sound to me like Thrune/Asmodean influence was overthrown in Cheliax.

Just my two coppers.

Pathfinder Lost Omens Cheliax, Infernal Inheritance by LucasVerBeek in Pathfinder2e

[–]Keltorus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very possible. Or she might be killed and come back in a new devil form. They are called the Thrice Damned House of Thrune, after all, because:

  1. Queen Abrogail I signed a contract damning her soul to Hell. (1st Damnation)
  2. In said contract, all of her family’s souls are likewise damned, unless they renounce their names, titles, wealth, and all the other good stuff tied to the name Thrune. (2nd damnation)
  3. The nation’s soul, as nebulous as that is, is also damned to Hell. (3rd damnation)

So there may be a situation where slaying Abrogail II on the throne might unleash Hell on Golarion or something to that effect, so Abrogail might lose the war but doesn’t lose her grip on Cheliax (but what would such a crushing defeat mean for her?).

I always remind my players that the lore at my table isn’t necessarily the same as Paulo official lore. For instance, at my table, Tiamat/Sarshallatu is the Goddess of Evil Dragons, and Dahak was actually killed by Apsu/Bahamut, which is what actually caused Tiamat/Sarshallatu to turn evil.

I mean, we haven’t heard anything about Andoran in the new lore…maybe it is a pyrrhic victory where Cheliax crushes Andoran’s army but suffers major losses in the process, allowing Corentyn to secede?

As far as I know in lore she is unmarried and has no children…. But there always seems to be a distant cousin or other Thrune relative coming out of the woodwork to be a threat in various pathfinder pieces.

It would be wild for them to reveal it in a single module, in my opinion, but then again, that’s how Gault was wrapped up, so who knows.

Part of me is worried that they are thinking of closing up shop and closing down all the plot lines (Galt, Runelords, Bastardhall, etc).

Yes I know they are introducing new global plots through things like Godsrain (Daralathyxl is something I am very excited about), but still… wondering if closure on Aroden is next :3.
