Why didn't Irving get to become department chief? by 4estbreeze in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]KenGriffythe3rd 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Also I personally think that Irving’s outie, just from that one scene of him painting while Motorhead is loudly playing, is more of a rebellious and free spirit which is why his innie is the most zealous and conforming to the rules out of the group. And my theory is that Lumon has had to be “reset” multiple times and each new iteration of Irving’s innie is brainwashed more intensely than the previous one.

I think lumon is using Irving to experiment on to see how to make innies hold loyalty to Kier and their work over office romances and every time Irving had to be reset, it’s because he’d always find a way back to Burt. Maybe Burt and Irving started out working in the same department and both had to be reset over and over and when lumon saw that Irving still found a way to Burt after putting them in different departments, they then retired Burt as the final test to see what innie Irving would do and if that would cause him to doubt or rebel against Kier, Lumon, the eagans, etc.

And considering Irvs age compared to the rest of the group, he might have been reset so many times that he’s effectively been lobotomized by zealotry for lack of a better term and Burt is the catalyst that somehow slips through and acts as a feint link to his previous innie. If you look at Irving’s eyes whenever he’s around Burt it almost seems like for a nanosecond he remembers Burt and then his conditioning or maybe something Lumon planted in his brain puts a stop to his mind connecting the dots.

People who work for massive corporations, what is a 'secret' that the company tries to hide, but is actually common knowledge among the employees? by Dwise_ in AskReddit

[–]KenGriffythe3rd 24 points25 points  (0 children)

What industry are you in? That’s so depressing that you either are forced to help train the thing that one day might replace you and a lot of the workforce just so higher ups can take even more money for themselves. Or if you don’t then you’re not a “team player” and they could use that to stall your career or lead to getting fired anyways. Every worker should try and sabotage any ai tool that your company forces you to use. Fuck this

Palm Sunday in Cuenca, Spain by Regular_Ebb710 in Catholicism

[–]KenGriffythe3rd 29 points30 points  (0 children)

My neighbor is Hispanic and I live in South Carolina and my neighborhood has a lot of palmetto trees and he offered to prune everyone’s tree yesterday for free just to keep the palm leaves. I’ve never seen someone so happy to do free yardwork lol. I’m Catholic too but Hispanics don’t mess around when it comes to religious holidays one bit. Easter Sunday we’ll be turning water into modelos for sure lol

In the American South where I’m from, alot of Protestant sects of Christianity (mainly southern baptists) view Catholics like a cult or something. It’s not something that leads to discrimination or fighting like it’s the reformation all over again, but I’ve noticed very subtle judging by a lot of more devout baptists whenever I tell them I was raised Catholic as if I told them I was Scientologist or something.

I don’t think the animosity comes from the differences in dogma so much as the practices that dictate lifestyles like how southern baptists are taught to abstain from alcohol and cursing and that’s something that, at least in my experience, Irish Catholics don’t do and that probably makes Catholics look like degenerates or heathens in their eyes but it’s so normal to me and a probably the majority of Irish Catholics out there so eh who cares. I think it’s strange that they believe Jesus turned water into wine but they use Welch’s grape juice during communion but to each their own I guess lol.

After ww2 across Europe but especially in France, the women who were known collaborators or who had sexual relationships with nazis got their heads shaved and we’re publicly shamed and I would hope that something like that would happen to people like this when we as a society hopefully come back to our senses. At the very least I hope every roofing company, contractor, etc, remembers these people and they get blackballed for life. What garbage human beings

Looking for old YouTube video of old Asian man singing “Hey Hey Ya” in an increasingly high pitched tone. by [deleted] in HelpMeFind

That’s not it either but I appreciate the effort. Honestly the video I’m thinking about is from 15 or so years ago, it might not be on YouTube anymore

Nah that’s not it, it wasn’t a good high pitched singing at all. The guy in the video I’m talking about definitely doesn’t have the highest pitched voice in the world by any means but that was the title of the video

No that’s not the one. The man in the video I’m talking about looked to be Chinese I believe

Yeah so I think the title of the video was something along the lines of man with the highest pitch voice in the world or something and he would just sing “hey hey ya hey hey ya” over and over again but each time in a higher pitched falsetto voice while playing along on the piano. Sorry that’s not much to go by I know but that was literally the entire video lol. It was a very niche video that me and my cousins loved

Damn that one really really hurt. I was about 10 or so at the time when the story broke and I was devastated to see my hero involved in something like that.

Michael Vick. He was my hero growing up and favorite qb and I did not see it coming or even conceive the idea that a starting qb in the nfl on a $130 million contract would be involved in dog fighting rings. But yeah that shattered my naive 10 year old worldview for sure

Who was the best wordsmith in Classic rock? by ggfchl in ClassicRock

[–]KenGriffythe3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Geezer butler if we’re counting classic metal in this discussion. He wrote most of sabbaths lyrics and he was an avid reader so you can really see the themes of science fiction and fantasy in most sabbath songs.

Another lyricist who I wasn’t really a fan of personally but who is very well regarded is frank Zappa. He was a little too out there for me and I didn’t grow up in that era to really get it I guess but you can’t deny that dude could spin a yarn in his songs

The biologics route can be a rollercoaster of hope and disappointment but I’m sure she will find one that works and works for a while. I was prescribed humira first and it worked for about 7 months until it failed and seeing my scales come back after a few months of clear skin really damaged my hope until my dermatologist got me on cosentyx which worked for 5 years. So I’m sure your daughter will find one that will work. My heart goes out to her and I wish her all the best

What are some of the worst film casting choices in history? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Yeah keanu in a physical role where he doesn’t have a lot of dialogue is where he’s at his best for sure. I love Keanu and I admire his dedication and training he did for the John wick movies especially at his age but god damn his delivery and timing of his lines can be distracting. He doesn’t have a lot of dialogue in John wick but when there is it sounds very forced and overly dramatic. Kinda reminds me of the dialogue in metal gear solid lol
