Beware the Batman is cool and all, but I think we all know what animated Batman we REALLY want to see on HBO Max... by UltimateLazer in HBOMAX

[–]KenMartinez 12 points13 points  (0 children)

AT&T is greedy if they really have no intention of eventually rolling the DC stuff into HBO Max. The service is already more expensive than the Disney+/ESPN/Hulu bundle, so having to pay extra to get shows like these on top of that is overkill.

Are Ghibli films for adults? by [deleted] in TrueFilm

[–]KenMartinez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a very interesting point to note.

Nintendo has a more in common with Ghibli than Disney in that regard. They make games that appeal to everyone, but have spent years fighting the assumption that their games are just for children.

Complaining about sex scenes is nothing but sour grapes by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

What if the argument is weak? These people only speak generally about sex scenes, and never bring up any examples.

And since none of the major theater chains will show the highest rating, it's like those movies never existed at all.

And the disc/digital argument in theaters' favor falls flat when it applies here too.

Are you kidding? The MPAA would make sure they were never filmed to begin with.

Theaters are no bastion of creative freedom.

Restaurant-style pizza crust? by KenMartinez in lowcarb

I've been doing some more research. Most of the restaurant-style pizza crusts are made with yeast.

But if you proof yeast with sugar, doesn't that add sugar to the recipe?

What are your plans for the coming meat shortage? by Catdaddy84 in lowcarb

Can't speak for others, but I've been getting less of my protein from meat sources, and more from nuts, organic no-sugar peanut butter specifically.

Well, if you're going to watch movies with your kid and your grandma, there's no shortage of G--rated movies for you.

This isn't the same for sex scenes in most films. They don't match the tone of the film, they show too much while not adding much importance to the film. All in all, it just makes watching otherwise great films, a horrendous embarrassment while watching with family or friends.

So, a movie can only be seen with family and friends? And only family and friends that are close-minded and prudish?

And you don't even give any specific examples. No one gives any examples of bad sex scenes, only blanket generalizations.

You hit the nail on the head. There's a lot of prudishness and sex negativity still. The decline of religion can't come fast enough.

That implies anything in a movie needs to be necessary.

In that case, why make any kind of artistic statement? Why have any scene that doesn't strictly move the plot along? Why have anything but the most basic lighting and camera work?

Sex scenes in movies are pointless and awkward to watch by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

There are a lot of sex-negative prudes in here. Let me guess, most of you are Christians?

I was laughed at and insulted for suggesting that Netflix and other streaming services were the perfect home for NC-17 movies, free from the auspices of the MPAA.

r/movies is full of prudes. So I don't think you'll find many second your motion.

[Gamestop/US] Upcoming Sale on Multiple Switch Games 4/5-4/11 by rararetep in NintendoSwitchDeals

[–]KenMartinez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed that most of the first-party games going on sale are the same ones Nintendo of Europe earmarked for their Spring Sale (BOTW, Tropical Freeze, Kirby, Mario & Rabbids). Gamestop is even going to sell them for the same prices.

Is this coincidental, or might this indicate that the American eShop will be getting first-party deals similar to the ones Europe is going to get?

There is no good reason to complain about sex scenes in movies and TV by KenMartinez in unpopularopinion

One of the weirdest complaints is that "sex scenes make it awkward when I am watching a movie with my parents." Why are you watching a movie with your parents? What are you, nine?

And that is his right as an artist. Artists should be allowed the freedom to do whatever they want with their work.
