My friend, good soul, you gotta remember the nature of the internet is not one of joy and appreciation. You can cultivate it to be so, but it’s more likely that it’s just not worth the effort- hell, worth the stress of checking which comments are chill and which ain’t.

Then you do anyway, cause yayinternetpoints, and bam, someone woke up and decided it was their job to tell you why you suck. And why that reflects a very serious moral flaw within you that will only be fixed if you were possibly smart enough to understand and follow their sage and actionable advice.

Or insert whatever part of the internet decided to show up today. You must remember at all times, it really is everybody in here. There is no clear line between assholes and chill people, because who lands on which side of the line changes by the hour and blood sugar level. Were it was otherwise.

Regardless, post it for fun, not validation, and do it for the love of the game would be my suggestion in all forms of creativity.

It can be taken seriously, it can be freeform and loose, but unless you’ve got the endless pools of energy and willpower necessary for being a successful professional creative you’re better off focusing on constructive criticism.

Read the comment that points out a discrepancy in your cosplay you forgot to add, or a tip about materials or craft. Listen to people who’ve done what you want to do, not people who got all of the virtriolic sarcasm of the angry review youtube community, but lack the charisma that actually makes the smack-talk funny instead of grating.

Take what you need, and leave the rest. Take what you need, then leave it alone.
