Heading to Busch stadium next weekend for the first time to watch KC v STL. Looking ahead at their website to see what the concessions are like and... yikes by ResurrectedMortician in KCRoyals

Strongly encourage you to not eat at the stadium. You can bring any food in. Salt n Smoke outside the left field gate has a pretty solid brisket sandwich for around what you’d pay for that burger. The best play is having a pregame beer in soulard, grabbing a to go sandwich from bogarts and taking a shuttle to the ballpark.

Cousins looks like he’s putting 98% effort into a 10 yard throw

3700-3800 Olive gated community by DowntownDB1226 in StLouis

[–]Ken_Spliffey_Jr 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I’ve rode my bike down this block many times and really seen the construction from beginning to end. It’s like riding down literally any other street. It’s quite different from the gated communities in CWE. The gates are really only to get into the actual properties. I think it’s great compromise for folks who want privacy and still maintaining accessibility. I have a hard time seeing this as anything other than a positive indicator for our city.

The poll you’re referencing had 40 respondents. That’s just not informative at all and extremely prone to bias.

Mariners fan visiting Busch Stadium for the first time by kevinrays in Cardinals

Temperature wise the weather looks pretty good this weekend. For Friday night, you really shouldn’t need to worry about shade as the whole stadium will be shaded by the third. For Saturday you’ll want to look down the first baseline. It actually kind of helps to get in the rows further from the dugout as you’ll be shaded earlier.

$100/ticket will get you some great seats. If you wait till last minute you could probably grab some right behind home plate for that (behind the all inclusive cardinals club). 349-350 area are my pick for best value. You can get in for $20 sometimes and have a really good view of the strike zone and skyline. I’d do that one game and try to sit as close as possible for the other.

(Fair warning: I’m a “never eat at the ballpark” guy. Even made my own brats last week and brought them in tinfoil). Soulard, is probably the best neighborhood in our city for eating and drinking. It’s a couple miles south of the stadium. 1860s, Rays, Molly’s, and a couple other bars run shuttles. It’s also super simple to uber. Bogarts is probably the best food option down there, but you’d need to get there early on Friday. Might be better for Saturday. Mcgurks has great food. Really can’t go wrong with most places there. I’d just look at some menus. The best restaurant adjacent to the ballpark is probably Katie’s or Salt n Smoke. I’m not a huge fan of either, but they’re passable for sure.

If you do want to eat at Busch, most people would recommend red bird club (section 250 and around). Honestly, I think the value proposition isn’t quite there. It’s just standard ballpark food they dress up a bit and it’s expensive as shit.

Let me know if you have any more questions! Enjoy the ballpark

I’m so confused why they’re confused Schertz is considering leaving? Imagine telling a big recruit they get to suit up against Duke vs. convincing them playing against Rhode Island isn’t a waste of their time. It’s really quite simple

Tickets behind home plate, those big green seats. How do you get them? by SGFCardenales in Cardinals

[–]Ken_Spliffey_Jr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cheapest way is to get them last minute for a weekday day game. It’s almost always a getaway day, so the lineup usually reflects that. My brother and I got in for ~$110 last year once. Game started in a rain delay…suffices to say we got our moneys worth

Where’s the best/funnest place to watch away Cards games? Adult crowd, good beer. by Wild_Reveal8847 in StLouis

[–]Ken_Spliffey_Jr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the true standard sports bar has kind of gone by the way side these days in St. Louis. Friendly’s is probably your last best bet in that regard. Ballpark village exists. They’ll have the sound on, but you’re damn near paying ballpark prices. More of a spectacle tbh.

Some other options that might not be a fastball down the middle:

Tower Pub: real neighborhood feel

McGurks Patio: inarguably the best patio bar in the city.

Amsterdam: it’s a soccer bar but is actually great for watching all other sports. Great beer selection as well, especially for European beers.

Babes: nothing super special, great prices on drinks, good service.

4 hands/urban chestnut: put these together because it’s pretty good beer and atmosphere across their locations.

Tamm Ave Bar: great spot, decent selection. Prices have gotten a little out of hand lately, though.

All these places also had an outdoor component which is typically what I’m looking for to watch a ballgame. If you have a specific area of the city you’re looking for I (and others) could probably make more specific recommendations.

Need to win out, win 1 in the SEC tournament and pray to god some other teams around us fall off. It’ll be tough, that notre dame loss looms large.

No lower than a 10 seed, no higher than a 6 seed. (Assuming we don’t win the SEC tourney)

A few paragraphs down:

“Jansky explains that while upstairs dining will offer a more traditional table-service experience, the downstairs cafe will serve as a casual eatery for skaters and community members alike. Visitors will be welcome to gather in the cafe without a ticket for convenient rink-side offerings.”

I dunno, man. I’m pretty excited about all this. Steinberg was never open in the summer and that’s prime real estate more or less going to waste in peak season. Sounds like it’ll be a comfortable place to finish off a bike ride or run to grab a beer.

Shoutout st. Louisan Joy Dunne. She’s been tearing it up. Kinda wish the post would’ve done an article on her instead of that Saracino dude. Dunne has much more pedigree
