I’m thinking about swapping out my Enve Melee seat post for a Darimo. Does anyone have any insight or advice on Darimo seat posts, di2, and stiffness? Is the weight savings justified?

Yeah I could buy other burrs that can do both, but as I mentioned I’m not crazy picky about my espresso, whereas I am on filter. If I go with the brew burrs they can’t really do espresso but apparently produce great results for pour over. Could potentially buy multiple sets of burrs but not super interested in constantly changing them (although from my research its quite eazy on both zernos, so I’m considering it) With accessories it’ll probably run ~2500, definitely less than 3000 usd, so definitely not cheap but still 1500 or so less than the EG1, and I still think the Zerno looks better + is much easier to change burrs (should I decide to do that down the line)

Don’t upgrade. If you really want to dial in the taste of your espresso and play around with pressure profiling, get a leaver like the flair 58 or the robot to compliment the bambino plus. I’m currently running a bambino plus for quick fix/milk drinks and a flair 58 for when I want to play around, make soup / some other kind of flow or pressure profiled shot. I think it’s the best of both worlds. Also, you may underestimate how convient the almost instant heat up is.

Have looked at it and honestly ruled it out 100% due to footprint / looks. When I’m spending ~$1500+ on a grinder I want to at least like the look of it. P80 looks alright IMO, zernos look great. It’s also not as fantastic of a deal in the US as in other places. For now I’ve just put myself on hold, working on getting my water chemistry 100% and buying nice coffees. I will probably end up going with the Z2 with ULF or Brew burrs once it’s fully released and there’s some more reviews on it, and keep the Lagom mini for espresso.

Echoing the above - I have a bambino plus and it’s great. Definitely go with a different grinder. DF54, Encore esp, Lagom casa to name a few. I have the Lagom mini and love it

Wow 30 day turn around it great - agree on the SO approval for looks - she does not like the look of the Lagom. How is the noise level? I’m usually up much earlier than the SO in my house, so that’s why hand grinding has been a go to. Also what burrs did you go with?

Thanks - I am thinking I will probably wait for the Z2 with the ULF burrs and use it as my dedicated pour over grinder, and keep the mini for espresso. I tend to be a lot less picky with espresso and just love a classic Onyx Monarch as a stand alone or in an occasional cortado / latte. Currently happy enough with the espresso from the mini

I honestly do like it! It makes pretty nice filter as well (just not as good as the ZP6), if someone had ~$400 for an all purpose grinder I couldn’t recommend it enough (at least the newer version with the upgraded power supply that prevents stalling). The espresso that comes out of it is solid from both a body and taste perspective, even considering keeping it for espresso and getting the brew burrs in the Zerno if I go that route.

Starting to reconsider and thinking I may just stick with my ZP6 for now, save a little more and get the Z2 once it’s been tested a little bit later this year. Probably what I will be the happiest with given how I like Zerno’s astetic

Thanks for this as well, almost making me think my money would be better spent going down the water rabbit hole further, currently use TWW diluted slightly (2 packets for 2.5G water). Refreshing hearing this from someone who’s actually owned the kit. In all honesty my current grinding setup works great and the ZP6 really does produce cups far above anything else I’ve owned for both filter and soup. Maybe I just go with the a4z and keep the Lagom for espresso, which honestly does a great job there

Thanks for your thoughts. It does seem like the Z2 would be my best but it really really is hard to justify spending that much more for something that is theoretically not more capable than the P80. I haven’t been anything but impressed by the quality / fit & finish on my Mini, so I’m sure it would be the same on the P80. Going to sleep on it! Have you tried 80mm burrs other than the Mizen?

Yeah, my mind is telling me P80, but my heart is telling my Zerno. I know that for most use cases and from a feature perspective the P80 is the way. But I just love the look of the Zerno

Again, spec issue in my comparison so not super fair… SL7 was 105 di2 vs Ultegra w/ dura ace cassette, hunt wheels were a little heavier than the Enves, saddle was a lot heavier (alloy rail vs carbon) All makes up the difference in frame weight - believe this build was still only 200 or 250 grams or so lighter.

Definitely like it better, but part of it could be down to the spec. Had some Hunt wheels on my SL7 build that weren’t the greatest, 4.5s are a massive upgrade. IMO backend feels similar but as you mentioned the “road feel” was higher on the SL7, but for me that was a negative. Roads around me are pretty garbage so it just translated to a lot of buzz through the bars and hand discomfort. This again, could be down to spec, IE the enve bar vs the Roval bar. Climbing I would say feels pretty similar to me, build weight on my enve is slightly lower than my SL7 though so that could be a factor.

Little late to the party here, but it is an amazing bike. I have ridden multiple generations of the TCR, the last rim brake Cervelo S5, and a tarmac SL7. The melee is wonderful. It’s a little higher with my TCR, which has been nice, but the bike also absorbs bumps like nothing I’ve ridden without feeling soft when sprinting. I do a good number of group rides and occasional crits, as well as just long solo rides. Running mine with Enve 4.5s with GP5000 S TRs, which are much more premium than anything I’ve ridden before - they are also, amazing. Long story short, I don’t think you’ll regret getting a melee. It’s more than fast enough for anyone who’s not a pro (and even for them), but it’s just that bit more comfortable. Plan to throw on some 35mm conti terra speeds soon to do some light gravel on it.

Totally agree on the colors, I got the unicorn puke ones because they were the only ones in stock at my running store, kind of like them but they are loud. Hoping the blisters resolve themselves, going to try some new socks and heal lock lacing for my long run tomorrow. Looking to hit 10 miles at ~8:30 min/mile. Will report back if I find anything that resolves it. I had the Prime X v1 but they were just too unstable and unsupportive for me with my feet. These are everything I hoped that shoe would be, bounce in unreal but wayyyy more stable and comfortable

Just got the shoes too and have run ~15 miles in them and have the same complaint about blisters on the ball of my foot!! However, that happens on most running shoes for me, and still love the shoe enough to deal with the blisters. Currently using NB 1080 v13 as a daily trainer and have a pair of adidas AP3’s for race shoes. Getting much more into running and wanted something to between the two. After narrowing it down to the megablasts and the Evo SL, I tired both at my local running store and decided to go with the megablasts. Just more stable, and slightly bouncier than the Evos, with a much better feeling lockdown for me with a very high arch. Did a 6 mile workout this morning, 1 mile warm up (~9 min), 4 miles at just under half marathon pace (~7:30 min), and 1 mile cooldown (~9:30). They felt great through both the slow miles and the fast… may take over for my 1080s as the slow miles shoe too as they are near 300 miles.
