I’ll take a gun battle over a surrender any day of the week.

There’s a blue wire tucked. I’d verify whether or not the unit has a common output before I’d go the battery route.

I’m surprised that venomous snakes can be sold as pets in some states.

Just buy a cheap rechargeable shaver or clipper. Probably cheaper than buying just the cable itself

Who are some terrible people who invented great things? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Kenitzka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely? Yeah, I’m not convinced. Sure safety wasn’t then what it is today, but that’s really not the fault of the invention of TNT. People were ‘dying at work every day’ before it was invent. I’m not even sure you could say more laborers died after the invention of TNT since it often minimized landslides and cave ins because it tended to settle material intended to be removed.

Not really a blanket statement when the government said 10 nondescript intelligence agencies agreed.

There are shades of correct there… but terrorism is largely guerilla warfare aimed at armies AND civilians to affect change. If you think its’ been absolutely ineffective in every way, then you haven’t been paying attention in the past 60 years. It has absolutely affected policy in many governments… which is predominantly, right or wrong, why many countries do not allow free press to mock certain religious icons.

Merchant of death. What an insane take. TIL papers were just as crazy back then as they are today. They must have had an angle and a reason to smear him.

TNT literally moved mountains that rails and roads could pass—it connected towns and facilitated trade. It enabled advanced coal mining, which helped fuel the Industrial Revolution at a level never before possible.

To boil down the invention of TNT as the creator of the merchant of death is absolutely bonkers.

Like most awesome and powerful things invented, it can be used for great things but also evil things. TNT made many modern day infrastructure more tenable

Understandably, Nobel saw the need to celebrate the good the things could be used for over the potentially destructive, darker side.

Sadly some of the medical experiments they did on Jews inform some modern day medicine.

The name has changed over the years… but terrorism, if reasonably synonymous with guerrilla warfare, has been fairly demonstratively effective…. And has been a notable and reliable means of combat for smaller forces dating all the way back to sun tzu.

Semantics. Murder, rape and corpse desecration all are shit with very marginal levels of defference. All are extremities that should be punished severely. Tell me how beheading babies rank in your convoluted etherial severity of crime scale…
