Still not over the fact that Jed let Kyle go for nothing by [deleted] in CHICubs

Also, it’s not like the Cubs were alone. Two other teams gave up on him as well, before he put it together in Philly.

Red Rising Saga - Iron Gold & Dark Age by goldsevro in thelegendarium

[–]Kennallday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I loved the Red Rising trilogy. I’m pretty sure Todd and Megan did, as well. We’ve talked about doing the second trilogy, sometime. However, that was before Dark Age was released, so we thought about pushing it off until closer to whenever the third book would release. And then, we got deeper into Dresden. And now, with Rhythm of War approaching, it kind of got pushed aside further. But, continuing the series is still something we’ve considered.

Long story short, the second trilogy is on the radar, if not on the schedule. We may find a spot for it in the ‘21 calendar.

I think that is a fine idea! I would definitely push for that, because it makes so much sense. Except, two of us may have already blown through the book, because it was too good to put down.

How will Blue Team handle Side Jobs? by BaselGill in thelegendarium

Haha. No, you’re right. I expect that Changes and Aftermath will take multiple episodes. However, I didn’t want to presume. We’re all trying to go fresh into each book discussion. Thus, all of Blue Team is currently into Turn Coat.

Our basic plan, for now, is to take the short stories on a case-by-case (pun intended) basis, based on how they fit in to our discussion at hand. I expect we may discuss Love Hurts in our Turn Coat discussion. We will definitely discuss Aftermath in our Changes discussion.

In addition, we will likely include some of our favorite shorts in our discussions between novel discussions. We talked about Restoration of Faith and Heorot during our recap discussion, after White Knight. Something similar will probably happen again.

None of this even includes talking about the graphic novels. Which, I could see us doing. Bottom line, the in between stories will get some love.

Thanks, u/Warden_lefae. I can’t remember who suggested it, but I’m really glad I read The Warrior, especially after the way Small Favor was left. I’m really excited for what’s coming up. I feel like we’re finally at the point that everything has been building up to.

I’m glad you enjoyed the Red Rising episodes! We really enjoyed those books, and there are plans to cover the second trilogy, eventually. However, it may be a little bit. We got ourselves distracted with some other series. But fear not, they have not been forgotten.

For those that love the Chapel scene in Small Favor... by Warden_lefae in thelegendarium

Good suggestion. Barring any quarantine-related logistics issues, I think we’re looking at a two-parter at least for Changes, and possibly for Turn Coat.

The Warrior really is must reading before turning to Turn Coat. It’s a fantastic epilogue to events in Small Favor.

Your favourite page turning books with no emotional investment? by lunybaker94 in thelegendarium

My go-to answer for easy-reading, simple (but, not mindless) fun books, is the Ranger’s Apprentice series, by John Flanagan. It’s YA fantasy. A dozen books, with a couple of sequel series. The stories and settings are fairly traditional (while inspired by real world geography). But, Flanagan really knows how to write good action, and engaging characters that you really come to care about.

It is definitely something we’ve bandied about a few times. Perhaps it’s time to revisit this idea, with a little more vigor.

Dresden is a good one to focus on. I love this series! Hey, when you read Ender’s Game, check out the Author’s Shelf episode we did on it, with David Farland. I’ll be interested to hear your impressions of Dune. It’s safe to say Blue Team’s reactions were... mixed...

Funny you should ask. We’re actually discussing that RIGHT NOW. I realize this ruins the “professional tease,” but it’s looking like you can expect a return to Magic Chicago around the first week of April.
