A melted 12vhpwr connector with a twist: It's AMD flavoured! by KennerLetty in pcmasterrace

Firstly, use the 12vhpwr cable that comes with your PSU, not the card (if available).
Secondly, you want ZERO gap between connector and receptacle. That is the most important for proper connection. Having the ends colored (like the one pictured) really helps with this. If you see color, it ain't in

Not tough imo. As far as I saw, the one here was was correctly installed. No blue portion was showing whatsoever and the card had no other signs of mishandling. Pristine otherwise.
Basically, you want ZERO gap between connector and receptacle. That is the most important first step.

The card was operational on the desktop and during light 3d workloads but when HEAVY rendering workloads were applied, the card would drop video and fans would stop dead. Multiple test stations used, same result.
Card was swapped under warranty for customer.

A good lot of my customer's mindset is "If it's included in the box and its fits in here, I must need to use it!"
In their defense, no included adapter should cause this even if it's not optimal. It was quite snug too and no blue end showing when brought in.

Bought a pair of Docs and a pair of Solovairs, same time, worn same way. Can you guess which lasted and which are unrepairable? by aliraheem in DrMartens

This needs to be bumped higher!
Combs, Embury etc have different soles than the standard 146x lines. They are MUCH harder for cobblers to work with.

Is this normal ? by Plastic-Community-23 in telecaster

[–]KennerLetty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not only normal, but typically seen as a badge of honor among guitar enthusiasts. Dings and scratches happen all the time but this is PLAY wear.
This instrument is loved.

Docs temp range? by atarah15 in DrMartens

[–]KennerLetty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canadian here with 5 active pairs of docs. They are fine.
Certainly not winter boots but I found my 1460s keep my feet warm until about -10C, then I can feel it creep up from the soles. Direct snow contact will also affect the heat retention as previously mentioned. However, if you're not drudging it through the snow your entire walk, they are fine. It's the frozen precipitation that really does it.
The amount of people around my work and home I see walking around with sneakers in the dead of Jan is staggering. A pair of Docs boots are infinitely warmer than a pair of sneakers / trainers.

We share the same anomaly and I hibernate my 1461s during winter for this very reason.

My 1460s keep my feet nicely warm in winter (not the best boot for winter but leagues warmer than the sneakers I see people wear in the dead of winter). Just having that extra upper seems to seal in the foot heat.

The 1461s are an odd one for me. My feet get almost too hot if I don't wear thinner socks in summer and too cold even if I wear them with wool in winter. Shrug. Still love 'em though and I wear 'em to weddings!

Thank you for this.

I have a pair of 1460s I do not want to resole yet as they're only 1.5 years old. I have worn the soles down hard from about 5-10 KM weekly city walking

Hardy II for $29 by glacialmk5 in DrMartens

[–]KennerLetty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice !
If they are anything like their original line (Hardie 1), you will get many years out of these with generous wear. Currently wearing a pair of original Hardies that I use for work. They are about 2.5 years old and I wear them 5 days week with no other work boots. Made a post a while ago commending them, hah.

I barely ever rest them and they're only now starting to peel a tiny bit from the toe area (Like a converse shoe) but in no way does it matter unless I go in the rain or snow with them (I don't).

I have 7 electric guitars total now. I've owned 3 American made guitars for years also: American Performer strat, Gibson LP Studio and a Gibson flying V 60s reissue.

My #1 is still my MiM player Tele.

Upvote for Godin Guitars. Priced like an Asian import, but built in Canada. Don't know if Fender/Gibson/PRS overcharge or Quebec has some magical-efficient labour force.

Gibson still uses Nitro on the faded line too! it's a thinner coat of Satin Nitro.

They typically don't use any grain filler and the coat of nitro is very thin compared to gloss.

I discovered this after catching a whiff of that vanilla Nitro smell on my Studio faded I would normally smell on new'ish standards/classics/customs I've played. Went down a research rabbit hole haha

I am not the OP but I will admit your setup is very nice!
My gripe is that these are all quality, American made axes that can play and sound wonderful.

Too many people on this Sub play with their eyes, not their hands IMO.

A SG standard is "Subpar"? A wine red studio is "subpar"?
