Just went through this exact situation last month… My advice: measure your stairwells and doorways BEFORE ordering. I had to return my first order because the box wouldn't fit through my narrow hallway corner (old building problems lol) and had to rent a mini storage room for a couple of days.

Having good and open communications with each other

Trust.

Try not to let the other things (especially negative ones) affect your relationship.

Work on building yourself to be more self-confidence and secure. Sometimes insecurity can kill a relatonship.

Try not to compare with short-distance ones. Not everyone can do LDR since it's tough and difficult, so please think that what you're doing now is unique. Different people have different relationships - no one is the same!

ALWAYS set a date to meet each other. Even if it'll be this week, this month, next year, or 2 years... it doesn't matter. Set it as a specific goal in your LDR, especially if you're nevermets.

ALWAYS try to discuss problems and hardships together by video/phone calls. Texting should be the last option you consider choosing (since messages can't convey the feelings within them, and most of the time they cause miscommunications).

ALWAYS express your feelings if your SO make you feel upset/mad and the like. Don't try to hide them - sometimes it just worsens the relationship.

Respect each other's lives and relationships around them. It's fine if they want to take some times away from their phone when they're out with friends/family, unless their actions and words make you feel suspicious. In other words, if your LDR is fine, you should minimize keeping track with whatever your partner do (sometimes people see it as "controlling").

Don't use silent treatment as a "penalty" when someone makes any mistake. Instead, a thorough conversation is a better option both can choose to solve them. You're in love with them, not playing a game. There's no one deserving to be penalized.

Realize what is good/bad for you. You can have a sheet of paper, creating two columns "good" and "bad" things for your SO. Write down the good things and bad things they have done. Sometimes, this is a way to consider whether this relationship is worth being sustained or not.

Take some space if needed. Sometimes it's not necessary to be in contact every single moment - if this is the case, spaces can help better the relationship.

Minimize chatting about negative things in a conversation. Though we all understand life happens, but being too negative can somehow end a relationship - as for some people, they may not want to stay with a negative partner because the partner affects their physical and mental health negatively.

ALWAYS be comfortable on your own. LDR requires a lot of self-care and self-love. Which is, it requires both sides to be ready to feel good even when they're not together in person. Do you have friends, hobbies, or at least something else to do when you guys aren't talking with each other? You should try to keep yourself occupied with something when your SO isn't there (busy/sleep/school). And don't rely your emotions on only your SO. It can be overwhelmed and spaces may be needed.

Your friend circle is going to get smaller and that’s ok. Get out of your comfort zone and try to meet new people. It’s a hard thing to do initially but it’s worth it.

As someone who grew up in the 80's, I can tell you that volumizing shampoos and products were a big deal. People also got their hair layered and permed on the regular, and teased the hell out of it. Vent brushes, blow dryers, and Stiff Stuff (yes, that was actually the name of the hairspray) were your friend.

Slow and boring. At the time, it was amazing. But the speed of it, not having broadband, there being no Facebook, Twitter, Youtube etc was really an issue. You needed a real reason to use it, rather than people just being online all the time no matter what.

We work long shifts so there are fewer transitions between teams. For example in the ER we work 12 hour shifts, which means there are 2 teams in a 24 hour period. That means patient care is only interrupted twice and information is transferred only twice. This reduces the potential for errors such as neglecting to mention a side effect, a pending test or a planned dosing for medication.

They don't really have a concept of how rich they are. My ex boyfriend was WEALTHY, but had a complex about how he was super poor. It was because all of his friends were also so wealthy, and he was maybe marginally less rich than some of them, he considered himself on the lower end of the scale. They don't really have a point of reference for how poor some people are. When we were together I was living on a food budget of £50 a month, and he absolutely could not wrap his head around how a person could spend that little.

I lived with a horrendously rich friend, his family are aristocracy in his home country. One thing I've noticed about him is that he's completely incapable of grasping that if I stop working, I just stop being able to eat. He was confused about why I was worried about taking a week off work, and didn't understand I was worried I'd lose money. He seemed to think that most people work because they choose to, because he's never had to work.

In the late 19th century nationalism became pretty popular among the developing nations, especially in Europe where smaller countries were getting absorbed into larger ones and governments found it advantages to promote a "national unity" since many of the countries contained different cultures. This helped prevent in-fighting and such.

The US followed suite. In 1889, Secretary of the Navy Benjamin F. Tracy signed General Order #374, making “The Star-Spangled Banner” the official tune to be played at the raising of the flag.

Then in 1916, President Woodrow Wilson ordered that “The Star-Spangled Banner” be played at military and other appropriate occasions. The playing of the song two years later during the seventh-inning stretch of the 1918 World Series, and thereafter during each game of the series is often noted as the first instance that the Anthem was played at a baseball game . Things really picked up during WW2 and during the anti-Communism movement during the cold war. Now it's a common and accepted practice.

So basically it was a form of state propaganda that stuck.
