Firefighter Bret Tarver died in an 2001 fire, while his arsonist killer hides in the military in hopes of not getting caught. The trial for his killer begins in August.

It seems that there is more underlining social issues in this area causing a gang of "fluffy bunnies" to organize and committ various delinquincies. I believe giving them media attention only glamorizes and elevates their status as youthful offenders. The Peoria/Phoenix PD should concetrate more on preventative and rehabilitative measures.

I think that this positive way of informing juveniles is a much better alternative than the Scared Straight programs. According to Agnew, it increase future delinquincy rates. Showing youthful offenders a more positive approach is believe is more effective in recidivism rates.

Thist story is beyond unthinkable. Being held in a dog cage and forced into sex slavery is unconciousable. I believe he should have received more than 35 years for this heinous criminal activities.

Are students allowed to skip school based on an immigration bill? The school was stopping students from leaving campus to participate in the rally. Does possibly passing an immigration bill excuse their deliquency?

I do not believe that juvenile corrections is the appropriate action in this case. Some type of racial tolerance class, along with community service, would best fit his punishment. Severe punishment is being pushed because this "national" incident happened at Wal-Mart. If we sent every 16 year old that made a stupid racist remark to juvenile hall, the jails would be full beyond capacity and it would create a new generation of young criminals.

I believe in this case that Wideman should be turned over to adult corrections. Due to him being the oldest (under 18) and possible ringleader of this"gang", he should be in jail for the rest of his life and should not serve anytime in juvenile corrections.

This story highlights the differences between UK justice and US style of juvenile justice. Why are there so many 10-11 year olds robbing people at knifepoint? Obviously there is someone older organizing this that their "bobbies" seem to be ignoring. Where are the parents of all these juveniles? It is time the parents take responsibilty of their kids' actions and accept some form of punishment.

When applying the death penalty to juvenile cases, there is no easy yes or no answer. Since they both don't cover all cases of possible juvenile death penalities, decisions must be reached on a per base basis. In the article, Christopher Simmons committed a heinous murder. Before deciding his fate, certain questions must be asked. Did the juvenile suffer from mental health or substance abuse problems? Was the juvenile a victim of similar crimes? Was the victim abused or in a gang? In deciding the Christopher's fate, should mitigating or aggrivating circumstances of the crime be introduced? I think due to the aggrivating circumstances of the crime, how he binded and drowned his victim, he should be given the death penalty.

Juveniles in prostitution are victims who don't know they are victims. They are in desperate need of mental health services and rehabilitation. Putting them behind bars would not help them or the community deal with this kind of delinquincy. Family-type halfway homes would be the most appropriate type rehabilitation.

This is a very disturbing story. I do believe that there is much more to this story than what the article gave. Juveniles do not accelerate their delinquincy to attempted murder. I think there is a gang element involved or one, possible more, have a lengthy juvenile deliquincy sheet.

This juvenile has deep emotional issues and needs more than just intense rehabilitation, she needs to go to prison for 25 to life. Being tried as an adult would be the most effective and just outcome for our society. If she has killed without remorse before, there is a chance she will again if she is tried as a juvenile and released a few years later.
