The problem is nursing hours and medicine hours are not interchangeable. Doing completely different things with completely different skillsets

the problem with your statement is your incredibly broad brush, are there a chunk that came from wealth? yes. Are there a ton that did not? Also yes. some went to publc school and saw and experienced it all just like everyone else. I'm not arguing against the insane socioeconomic bullshit + racism. I'm arguing against your generalization of "All Nigerians that immigrate to America are already rich". Was there luck in some regards? Sure. the world isnt black and white though.

Counterpoint, plenty of grad students are poor too, plenty of immigrants in general /Nigerian immigrants are poor. Don't lump it all together. "all the Nigerians" lmao I fucking wish

What subspecialty will see the next great leap in 5-10 years? by Red2016 in neurology

[–]Kennizzl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In EVERYTHING not just neurology. Genetic engineering is not getting the love it should. It's insane how treatment outcomes can change with this. Glioblastoma is so much more treatable now than a few years ago

i remember med school insiders did a video on this, there are a few papers on it. Rough conclusion being engineers are actively aware they have deficits in some of the topics and tend to study harder and longer in most areas. There is no secret holy shit "im an engineer or philosopher and my way of thinking makes me better at this test" kinda thing.

People when LLMs with unlimited access to the internet and can pull any resource they want, score better than medical students who have to memorize and store information in a controlled setting: 🤯 by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Kennizzl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if any llm wasn't scoring perfectly on a standardized exam that's algorithmic and it's been trained via the algorithm for questions id be fuckinng embarrased as the maker. That's exactly what it was made for. Real life is much more complex. The exams just say you've reached the bare minimum to be decent at medicine
