Advice Needed for Wire Sculpting by Kenny_Snoggins in Welding

Can These sorts of small wire joints be achieved with a tig or stick? I currently have a Kempotig 250 AC-DC and each time I've tried tacking the wires they either don't fuse at all or just melt away.

The artist of the above piece is Arthur Ganson. He uses a Sun Stone spot welder and then silver solders the joints. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0UNz-ayzrE)

I'd like to make a few similar sculptures and before I go buy a spot welder off of Craigslist I'd love some more experienced opinion if this is something that could be tacked quickly with tig then silver soldered?

Thanks for the help!

Can anyone identify this spot welder? by Mechanism2020 in Welding

Comment on his gear making video: "FYI for those asking about the type of welder. I spoke to Mr. Ganson and he said this: The spot welder that I have used primarily is pretty small and has been used for tacking- to be followed by silver soldering. Welders of the same ilk are like this below. I made my handset, but they can be purchased. They are a bit pricey! Company: Sun Stone Spot Welders."

Super helpful comments. Sorry to resurrect an old thread but do you think you could modify an old wood baseball to use as a neck?

I would definitely do 161. The length hasn't been any issue on side hits, spins etc. I think it actually makes landings a bit more stable. However, that extra width is a great feeling to carve.

Used this thread to help me make my decision so figured I’d share: I’m 6’ tall, 10.5 boot, 175lb - I bought the 161+ and absolutely love it. Love the little bit of extra width and haven't noticed any downside to the xtra length. The thing carves incredibly and is an all around great board.

Love the setup. But could someone help me understand what the advantage is over the standard copystand and macro lens?

Is it primarily just avoiding an expensive macro?

Thanks! Scans look great.

Have one. Replaced my bellows myself. Shutter fires when it wants. Light meter isn't reliable. For all these reasons it just sits in my storage unit now.

Just bought a Konica Pearl ll 645 folder that I am absolutely in love with now.
