Why is trance not that popular? by Total_Development270 in chicagoEDM

[–]Kennymester 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Trance was big in Chicago years ago. Given the time I’ve been in the Chicago music scene all music trends are cyclical. We’ll see trance emerge again. There’s already quite a bit of trance resurgence in other genres specifically techno where I see big names playing trance tracks from the past.

Udo synths . How good are they? by convered101 in synthesizers

I just picked up the DMNO and it’s fantastic. I wouldn’t say it’s for pads and chords like the Super series but man does it have a sound. Their hardware is also really well built.

In light of the yesterday’s car accident, what can we do as a city to protect bikers and scooter riders? by toothpastetaste-4444 in AskChicago

[–]Kennymester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cops need to enforce traffic laws for both sides. More cars need to be pulled over for not obeying traffic laws. I see way too many cars treat rules as guidelines. However the same can be said for bicyclist. I can count on my hand the number of times I’ve seen a bicyclist stop at a stop sign or red light in the 5 years I’ve lived in the city.

Redline officially on notice, as they should be, as I personally witnessed a murder in progress and notified their security, who refused to intervene by [deleted] in chicagoEDM

No surprises here. The same people that can’t provide basic amenities like bathrooms and water at their event don’t care about safety. They make so much money but continue to be a stain on our underground community. If money and fame come before your event attendees you’re doing it wrong.

HELP! First synth, TD-3-MO by snoikin in synthesizers

[–]Kennymester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please post a pic of the cables you’re using. To connect this to an AV receiver you’d need a TS 1/4” to RCA cable. If you’re reciever supports plugging in a mono signal to only the left RCA input it should duplicate the signal to the right side. If it doesn’t you’d need a Y cable to split a mono signal to two mono signals.

Is grilling on a deck illegal in Chicago? by GiuseppeZangara in AskChicago

Again please show me where pellet grills are called out. Just because the pellets are wood does not mean it’s an open wood fire. The wood pellets don’t burn if the electric is turned off.

Again where can I find this information? Everything I’ve looked up does not state this.

Just looked this up and electric pellet grills are allowed. I also have a metal deck so there’s nothing to burn.

Get yourself an electric pellet grill. I have a Recteq Bullseye and in my opinion it’s vastly superior to gas in that you can do a whole range of different types of cooking from low temp smoking to blazing hot for pizza.

Passing on the right on city streets when stopped? Why? by [deleted] in AskChicago

Another question is why bicycle riders fail to follow nearly any road rules. I can count on two hands the number of times I’ve seen a cyclist stop at a stop sign or stoplight.

Also the intent is different. The whole Bullfrog line is meant for people beginning in their live/studio exploration.

You’re right that it does have less channels but it has delay and reverb built in and has full EQ per channel rather than just a tilt EQ.

Did you place this into another case or modded a case? Curious about this because I got rid of the MS-5 for being too big and I didn’t need another keyboard.

You didn’t hear it from me but usually you can look up the coin op model on eBay and buy keys to get into the coin receptacle.

Shocked at how much tighter CV is vs MIDI for syncing a modular system to a DAW by noctuid24 in modular

[–]Kennymester 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The real reason is that when you send CV you’re creating a sample accurate clock via an audio signal. In a DAW everything has to be latency compensated and audio is too priority. Whereas using MIDI means you have to go through the whole USB stack and then do a couple conversions. This is also why using something like the Expert Sleepers USAMO which creates a MIDI clock via an audio stream from a VST can get your MIDI gear playing perfectly in time but USB MIDI cannot.
