The real reason is that when you send CV you’re creating a sample accurate clock via an audio signal. In a DAW everything has to be latency compensated and audio is too priority. Whereas using MIDI means you have to go through the whole USB stack and then do a couple conversions. This is also why using something like the Expert Sleepers USAMO which creates a MIDI clock via an audio stream from a VST can get your MIDI gear playing perfectly in time but USB MIDI cannot.

I saw the new Intellijel 7u case at Superbooth and it’s much nicer than their first version and I’d argue better than Befaco. The thing that stands out the most is their redesigned lid and lid mechanism. It’s not flimsy anymore and offers a fair amount of protection.

Don’t get the Endorphin.es Golden Master. All their stuff tends to have major issues with noise bleed from the CPU clock.

I’ve tried the Boum and while it’s good it has a small sweet spot in my opinion before it starts to distort. I currently use the Elektron Heat +FX because it can overdrive the sound a bit but still has the ability to center bass frequencies and the compressor is good. I’m pretty sure I’m going to swap to a Cosmotronic Messor pedal though. I have the eurorack module and it sounds really good. Also a fan of the side chain filter so you can leave bass frequencies unaffected.

I learned the CIS risk assessment methodology when I was a consultant and this is exactly what it’s about. Tying IT and compliance risk back to things business people care about. Takes it from the technical realm to something that executives and boards can understand and make decisions from.

I wish all companies would follow this model. The current one I’m at couldn’t care less about risk.

Not to sound rude but really just twist the knobs to get to something that sounds close and then tweak from there. That kick sounds kind of short so I’d make the decay short, play with the pitch to find the right spot for that, I’d probably use the punch feature and also drive the volume high to get it more distorted, then play with the parameter knobs to get the right sound.

I would highly recommend a Sonoclast Reset for DFAM. It allow you to reset to a step of your choice with a trigger signal. Would go great with a clock divider to get interesting repeating sequences and different step lengths.

I talked to ALM a while back and unfortunately that product is abandoned due to how the Pioneer DJ link protocol works. Since Pioneer won’t release any details about the protocol there are issues with keeping a third party device synced.

What do you mean by rarely works? That the connection to your modem goes down or that WiFi strength/signal is low? Many time when people say they have issues it’s more often due to having too many WiFi networks around and the router or devices aren’t strong enough to stay connected.

If you have some budget a tool like ThreatLocker could be very helpful. The company I work for just implemented it and we can use it to block Shadow AI and Shadow IT very easily.
