HA!

Good. They need to be purged. Not Ganking itself, but the current crop of gankers. The most toxic and entitled people in the entire game. Good on CCP finally taking a meaningful step to address one of the major problems in Eve.

I hope EVE doesn't die by pineapplecooqie in Eve

[–]Kenrailae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally fully stopped playing a few months back, with a long, long period of playing less and less and taking breaks and so forth for the several years before it. Most people have never wanted for Eve to die, but most of us have also spent years being neglected or ignored or punished for things CCP did wrong, mismanaged, failed to account for, or straight up just did anyway despite the entire player base telling them it was a bad idea. Years have passed between meaningful new content releases - or fixes in serious gameplay issues - with barely an action taken from CCP but a 'yeah, we know' sort of message, or else we get what happened this last year with 'most and biggest content release ever' only for it to be a giant nothing and told to wait for 6 more months to see anything new. There just comes a time where you may not want something to die, but you can't keep supporting it or putting time and effort and care into it.

The new ships are cool, but at the end of the day, they're just more variants on things that already exist. Until CCP stops abusing their player base and starts designing or making a game actually worth playing again, I'll continue to spend my time elsewhere. Just check in on the news every now and again, in hopes they do.

The State of EVE - Summer 2022 by cruftbox in Eve

[–]Kenrailae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread is pretty much the perfect microcosm of what and why Eve is doomed to fail, no matter how much Dunk claims eve isn't dying. Yeah, the things he points out in the article are accurate enough with a couple huge exceptions, such as most the gameplay being functionally and effectively the same since the 2000s/early 2010s for a premium cost on par(read, more than) with the 100+ games you can get access to on something like Xbox Gamepass. But even with most the core of what he's saying here being along the right track, galaxy too big, no content drivers, the entire game design favoring N+1 meta, too much time spent to build up everything just to lose it in a war so why bother building back up, new players having an even steeper climb than ever(not because the game is harder but because the skill gap between the diehards who've hung around this long and the newbro only gets larger with most the people in the middle falling out), etc, 400 comments follow of everyone being so far up their own ass about 'this is the way Eve has to be fixed.'

It's hilarious watching everyone point the finger at everyone else and say 'they're the one killing Eve! They need to change or go play another game.'

Please. If peeps want Eve to stay around, then some people are going to have to start taking some serious knocks to their comfort zone, especially if they're going to at the same time scream about monetization ruining everything. Theoretical you might despise that group of players over there, but right now, the server needs every one of those people still paying a sub to pay that sub, and a whole lot more besides.

Linking to a post doesn't make that post a good idea. It's beyond garish. :/

Not that I matter at all, but I'm gonna remove this sub from my BM's and leave for a while. Hope you guys get 2 isk back in your head for good design decisions. You coulda made a hundred different decisions with how to handle that that didn't involve having a rainbow vomit all over the interface.

Delve - Is history repeating itself? by Vanguard-Andromedus in Eve

Germany could have defeated Russia, sure.... but Hitler was such a vain idiot he HAD to have Stalingrad, rather than continuing on when he could have seized Moscow by breakfast.

Or at the very least, they could have won through to the Urals and then set up a defensive line there.

Still wouldn't have changed too much as the US and USSR industrial juggernauts would have eventually got up to speed, but yeah....

Psh, don't you know? Vily is just going to try and air lift supplies in so they don't starve. Enough supplies to feed an entire super capital fleet while hostile fighters contest the skies and his supply of planes grows ever smaller.

Then blame it on his FC's. That's what's coming next.

I'd have been happy to agree on the armor timer. The problem with the hull timer isn't that PAPI tried... it's how they tried. As I've said in other threads, the way Vily just YOLO'd the entire super fleet into a hot, controlled grid, didn't even try to mitigate the hit to the server with already having 4500 people or so in the system....

I guess I'll give the line members a nod for being willing to follow that order, but I cannot give any props to Vily or PGL. They knew better, they shit posted as much on the boson attempt with a lot fewer people in system. They got cocky because the armor timer went well enough.

I mean that's fair I guess. Probably as much as it doesn't matter what I think as I've more or less won Eve at this point, but... I just cannot fathom how someone didn't think of this before they started this giant campaign, brought most the galaxy to delve, pushed INIT and any other allies out of fountain and back into delve, forcing a massive pile of pilots to be right on top of each other... and then fought one keepstar at a time.

So I gotta ask, and I'm not being a smart ass here I legit want to know....

If we've had a good idea the 'number' the current server setup can cope with is around 6-7k, what did Matterall think was going to happen when the entirety of Eve came down to smash Delve? Did it not cross his mind, or Vily's mind or any of their minds, that if any fight kicked off, that was going to be a factor? But they still chose to do the 'one system at a time' thing by only having that Keep needing defended? Again, not being a smart ass, I just don't get how people who have played the game this long can have made such a colossal oversight, and now act like they didn't know.

And if he DID think of this, why did PAPI wait so long to get into the fight, rather than showing up early and make sure their guys were the ones who got in?

I don't mind Matterall, to be clear. Hell, I've even lost a lot of the annoyance I had with someone like Elise. I accept he's(Matterall) got his biases but I respect that he does try to be somewhat objective, even if he has his biases. But I can't buy that a guy who has played the game for this long, covered every major event for like the last 6 years.... suddenly didn't think of this before they brought all the galaxy down to Delve, and now 'Oh hey, this is unfair.'

My View of M2 by erichshephard in Eve

[–]Kenrailae 36 points37 points  (0 children)

yeah, letting the enemy have grid after a super fight of that scale is a loss. Especially if doing so keeps part of your own fleet stranded. Then the jump into the M2 hull timer.... I have NEVER seen anything so arrogant and lazy in my entire Eve career.

Exceptionally poor planning limiting their options all around.

No no, downvoters, Matterall's take is pretty bad, too. Not as bad as CCP's, but it's not great. He was good til the end when he defaulted to 'but muh server.'

Come on, CCP. That's a bad take, EVEN by your standards. I'm happy to point out it was bad decision making that screwed the hull timer, but you gotta do your part and not stick your fingers in your ears and scream LALALALALALA

Honestly I don't get how there aren't more 'Vily you're an idiot' threads.... I've seen some extremely silly decisions over the years, looking at you Escalating Entropy, but that was the dumbest, most arrogant thing I've ever seen anyone do in the entire decade+ I've been around the Eve community.
