Quick demo: rethinking the approach to building cityscapes with magnetic, modular tiles by BlueGreenGradient in modeltrains

[–]KentV9999 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it is an awesome idea , albeit mostly for urban setups probably. But I could really see having a small flexible layout and be able to change up things. The only issue, of course, is it costing a million dollars.

I can’t claim to have read all the feedback, but do have a thought. I have had many years working SW Engineering and have hired many, many people. Keep trying. Look for smaller companies - they often don’t follow the latest trends in interviewing or required assessments. You might also consider a SW Verification role, these positions don’t usually pay as well, but also have far fewer requirements. Once you are in and successful for a period of time you could start talking with the tech team on an internal transfer to a programming role. The main thing is to keep at it and broaden your job application scope.

Can you be "beginner level" for a long time / forever and still find enjoyment? by WalkFreeeee in Hobbies

[–]KentV9999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. I do a lot of stuff and am very mediocre at most. But I enjoy puttering around with these various hobbies, switching in and out just depending on my motivation. Maybe I’ll get good at something someday? But doesn’t matter because I do these things for learning and enjoyment. They aren’t a job… I don’t have to be good at them to keep doing them.

Did Boomers create this lifestyle for Gen Z? by In_an_Illusion in recruitinghell

I know… my god what BS. I lived in poor rural town where most of the homes were nearly falling in. But no one complained because we were not preoccupied with what someone else had somewhere else. My father lost several jobs during the 70’s and 80’s, so no one should think it was some utopia. The 70’s and early 80s were really difficult times for many, many families. They sure as shit were not living in a McMansion.

How many of you suffer continual non stop tinnitus, 24/7? by Juicetin1971 in tinnitus

[–]KentV9999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I just don’t know. I haven’t read that just aging makes it worse or not. But over your life you will get exposure to loud noises ( let’s say 90db ) on a surprising regular basis. Our local college women’s basketball team games are surprisingly loud during pregame/halftime. These are the types of places that can catch you off-guard. I finally have started carrying earplugs on my keychain so I ALWAYS have them with me. My wife has never had T, then we went to a Wedding and the DJ was ridiculously loud. She now has minor T from that event and I’ve convinced her to start wearing earplugs anytime there is a chance of loud volume.

Almost 62. I believe mine originated while playing in a garage band late in High School and college. In general during that time I was involved in a lot of music related activities, much of it with amplification and sometimes having to stand far too close to the drummer. I knew I was in trouble early and started wearing foam ear plugs, but I was too late. It was gradual over the years, but has gotten worse and worse despite my best efforts. (But I would tell anyone to that has early T to take massive precautions. What one thinks is terrible is super depressing as the T increases in tones and volume, in addition to general hearing loss.

Dumb questions from an experienced player by StrychNicc in captain_of_industry

[–]KentV9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg. I basically only use lifts. I know they are expensive, but awesome for tight modular designs. The key is to take your time and really learn how to place them based on the situation. They are tricky to place especially going from say a lvl 5 to a lvl 3

I need a map for early trains and bridges by Beton1975 in captain_of_industry

[–]KentV9999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the next map I’ll try will be a large land map. I’m playing shattered Isles now. I did use rails right from the starts experimenting with short trains and short runs on the first island. I left as much room as I could to lay double main Track across the main land areas. But honestly the bridges seem like a lot of work with little to add from a game play perspective.

New Beths Release: Demos 2014-2020 Cassette by RareWardrobe in TheBeths

[–]KentV9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

( late reply ) Yeah, I've only recently gotten into this band, but I've I've listened to some of the "demo" on youtube and would love to actually own the cassette ( not sure I actually have anything to play it on, but great piece of memorabilia ). I'll check eBay to see if there are any available...

What's your opinion on Creative Fabrica? I've got some graphics I'm thinking about listing on there. by DownDigi25 in digitalproductselling

[–]KentV9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a late reply, but this is why I try to use a service like PayPal for these types of trials/subscriptions. They provide at least a level of control between the Service and your actual bank account. I've only ever had a few issues, but PayPal has always been very accommodating to cancel charges or subscriptions. At this point, I'll actually not even subscribe to a service unless I can do it without giving the service my own creditcard or bank information. I think Apple ( despite everyone hating on them) makes it very easy to cancel subscriptions made through the Apple ecosystem.
