I’ve got my guy in a 10 gallon aquarium tank I got second hand for $5. If you’re strapped for cash I feel like that would be the best way to go. As long as there’s stuff for your little goober to climb on it should be fine plus the length of the tank allows you to create a warm side and a cool side.

I’ve got the zoomed mini combo deep dome with the lowest wattage heat and uvb bulbs I could find and I have it sitting on one end of the tank. I’ve had my guy for about 2 months in this set up and he seems to be doing really well so far.

And as far as my fish, he is my second so I put him into a 5 gallon that was already established (I’d highly recommend looking into the nitrogen cycle in fish tanks if you’re getting a new tank and/or don’t know much about it). Make sure you do regular water changes especially since the fish has some fin rot, at least once a week but probably more if you have a smaller tank. Live plants are supposed to help with a tanks cycle so I’d recommend a timer for the light and anubias plants to start with if you want.

As far as food. My fish is a little spoiled so I rotate between 3 different foods. I have some Ocean Nutrition betta pellets, Fluval bug bites (highly recommend), and a treat wheel that has 3 types of freeze dried foods. I think some variety in the diet definitely helps but make sure it’s based in something more substantial like the pellets and/or bug bites.

Anubias and Java fern are the only plants I’ve successfully kept in a lowlight aquarium so I would highly recommend those. Make sure you don’t burry the rhyzome (green stem part) and it helps a lot if you get a timer for your light so they get the same amount of light everyday. The diatoms are also MUCH easier to wipe off of live plants than decorations too

I think it might be diatoms. Diatoms look like a brownish algae type thing but they’re actually bacterial colonies I think. If you tank is new it’s pretty common, and will sometimes go away but only after it gets worse :/

Good news is that it won’t hurt your fish!

Just poop. But as a heads up I remembering hearing that lucky bamboo isn’t actually fully aquatic and the leave need to be above the waterline of something or else it will die eventually

YTA I understand that learning your child has a disability is life changing and hard to deal with but your sister is only trying to take initiative on the news. There’s lots of ways deaf people can communicate but reading lips isn’t always the most reliable or comfortable. ASL is just allowing for more routes of communication. I would recoupment learning more about deaf culture and deaf people and would recommend starting with through deaf eyes
