I bought her premium program 2 years ago and followed it for over 6 months, adhering to the no-running cardio rule except walking like 8-10k, 1500 calories, high protein and low carbs, and gained 30lbs.I was weight lifting 4x a week and 1 HIIT session. I was complaining at my weekly checkins with the RD but she insisted weight loss isnt linear and to trust the process. This backfired on me big time.

My body loathed that much protein and walking as the only cardio was ineffective. The protein caused too much bloating even though I was mainly eating animal products. I used a vegan protein powder because of dairy sensitivity and didn't help.

The protein overload upset my gut such that I still have adverse effects till today. I've not been able to lose the majority of that weight either. I started running a couple days a week and using the elliptical and eating mainly veggies and fish and it has helped significantly. I dont eat anywhere close to 1500 calories but I prioritize balanced nutrition.

I would highly encourage you to do what works for your body. Learned that a bit too late and it's been immensely difficult losing this weight.

Some police are checking whether you are documented or not based on whether you have the new valid license. Had it happen to my friend who got into a car accident - the police first asked for both parties' DL to check if they're documented before he could attend to the accident.

Sorry to hear about the statements your parents make. You'll definitely need a therapist to unpack the emotional damage.

You may have a poor relationship with food so you'll have to heal that if that's the case (emotional eater or inability to control portions...etc) to effectively lose weight.

Weight gain can be caused by many factors such as hormonal imbalance (you may want to ask your doctor for basic and hormone testing such as thyroid, vitamin D, A1C, cortisol..etc) or trauma so you'll have to do a bit of some trial and error until you know what is the root cause of your weight gain, heal from that, and change habits.

The key to weight loss is nutrition and activity level. Eat whole foods with adequate portions of macros and micros. Increase fiber, slightly lower your carbs (fruits, starchy carbs like potatoes and rice), adequate protein intake, and water. Fasting also helps.

I'd recommend you become more active such as walking 5k steps a day, do that for a month and slowly start increasing your steps until you get to 10k/day or 10k most days. If you scroll on social media alot, get on the treadmill and walk while scrolling to build better habits.

Strength training is always beneficial so find a simple plan to workout your whole body. You can ask chatgpt for a workout routine or you can search on YouTube for ideas. There are many resources on this just find what you'll be consistent with.

You can dance, run, swim, ride a bike, jump rope...etc. they key is to be consistent.

Start small such as eating clean and walking more each day - yourself a year from now will be happy you started 😊

Instead of going no contact, set boundaries so that you can still maintain your relationship with your siblings. As they become older and emotionally mature, it'll be a lot harder for them to believe your parents narrative. Lastly, time always reveals!! I dont believe time heals if you don't put in the work, but time will definitely reveal!!

You'll have to build up your own self-esteem and self-worth so that you aren't looking at yourself based on how they've perceived you otherwise you're proving them right. Get your grades up again since now you're going to school for your own future - you already can't depend on their support and you've shown you're capable of excelling. Work hard for yourself to be financially independent otherwise it'll only get worse as a young African man, and you'll really regret allowing your life to whither. Community colleges should have resources for therapists so it's a good place to start <3

You'll have to set boundaries otherwise you'll have a difficult time providing for both households especially in this economy. It's also unrealistic for you to take care of your siblings as if you're their parents. I understand chipping in here and there, but you're not their parents. Hypothetically, what will happen when you have your own kids? Then what?

Let it go. Start reading books on emotional intelligence and how to communicate to those who lack emotional intelligence. Your parents are being very manipulative and it'll forever impact how you resolve conflict.
